Beretta Model 38/42 Submachine Gun, Class III/NFA C&R Fully Transferable Machine Gun - Serial no. CT3709, 9 mm cal., 9 mm fluted bbl., blue finish, hardwood stock. Manufactured in Italy, the Model 38/42 submachine gun is a simplification of the Model 38A, featuring a bolt with a fixed firing pin and an integral dual vent muzzle brake in the fluted barrel. A staple close-combat weapon of the Italians in World War II, the 38/42 used extruded tubing and stamped components like many other Axis and Allied SMGs, but uses a dual trigger mechanism, with the front
trigger fitted with a disconnector for semi-automatic fire, and the rear trigger running in full automatic. Blade front and two-leaf rear sights, with the makers marks on top of the receiver, matching serial number and caliber marking on the barrel, stamped and welded magazine well, and a smooth pistol grip stock with grasping grooves and a brown leather sling. An extra stock for a Model 1938/49 SMG (similar, but configured for a crossbar safety) is included. Magazine absent.
CONDITION: Very fine, with 70% of the original blue finish, showing areas of brown patina, scattered spotting, and mild handling marks. The installed
stock is very good, with a spliced repair at the wrist, cracking near the magazine well, absent/damaged triggerguard lock screws, and mild scuffs and dings overall. The extra stock is excellent with a dew light handling marks. Mechanically excellent. NOTE: This weapon is a National Firearms Act (NFA), fully transferable Class 3, which is registered with the Bureau
of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, (BATFE) that is classified as
a “Curios or Relic” as defined in 27 CFR, 478.11. These weapons are still subject to the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 479. Estimate: 20,000 - 35,000
