DWM Model 1900 American Eagle Luger
Semi-Automatic Pistol with Desirable Ideal
Combination Shoulder Stock/Holster - Serial no. 19132,
7.65 mm Luger Auto cal., 4 3/4 inch round bbl., blue finish, walnut grips.
The first true commercial contract Luger pistols, the “American Eagle 1900”
was intended explicitly for the American market. This 1900 has been fitted out
with an Ideal stock/holster; an early development, the Ideal predates the integral
stock mounting iron brought in for later Lugers, and provided a fairly elegant solution without requiring permanent modification of the handgun. Fixed sights, with the signature “American
Eagle” on the chamber, fast-taper barrel, flat-top breechblock, dished toggles with integral lock, hold-open, niter blue and straw colored small parts, and a nickel finished magazine with unmarked hardwood base. The small parts are numbered in the early commercial pattern. A pair of Ideal grips have been installed, with smooth wood panels installed over a metal frame. The holster is constructed with a blued steel framework around a leather body, with
adjustable belt clip and telescoping arm assembly.
CONDITION: Very fine, with 80% of the original blue finish,
showing scattered light spotting, bright edge wear and
mild handling marks. Bright straw color is present on the
trigger and magazine catch, with the other small parts
faded to a smooth gray patina. The grips are also very fine, with
a few light dents, and the fine holster shows mild scuffing on the
leather and 50% blue on the frame, with some looseness of the fit between the hooks and grips when mounted. Mechanically excellent.
Estimate: 4,000 - 6,000

Semi-Automatic Pistol with Highly Desirable Abercrombie and Fitch Co. Retailer Marked Barrel - Serial no.
2986i, 9 mm Luger cal., 4 3/4 inch round bbl., blue/straw finish, walnut grips. Mostly manufactured in Germany, a small number of Luger pistols are known to have been routed through Switzerland after World War I, where they could be
fitted with barrels that exceeded the lengths permitted by the Treaty of Versailles prior to further export to Abercrombie
& Fitch Company of New York, then the largest outfitting and sporting goods firm in the United States. The barrels were manufactured by Hammerli, who marked the barrels “ABERCROMBIE & FITCH Co NEW YORK MADE IN SWITZERLAND” on top. Features fixed blocked blade front and notch rear sights, Swiss “cross in starburst” on the chamber, and a “DWM”
monogram on the front toggle. Extractor marked “GELADEN” and

stamped “GERMANY” on the hardwood base.

original blue and 70% straw finishes with light edge
wear, scattered faint spotting. The grips are very fine with crisp
