CONDITION: Very fine overall, retaining 95% original blue finish, a fine silver patina on the action with flashes of the original case colors, some rubbing on the barrels, light handling evidence, and crisp checkering on the reoiled wood. Factory Engraved Charles Osborne Single Barrel Shotgun - Serial no. 78490, 10 gauge, 30 3/8 inch round bbl., brown/ casehardened finish, walnut stock. Brown Damascus steel barrel with single brass bead sight, light engraving at the breech, “J. STRONG & SON. CARLISLE.” retail mark near breech, .049 inches of choke constriction, and chambers proofed “1 3/4” oz. or 3 1/2 inches with extractor. The casehardened action displays attractive scrollwork engraving with “CHAs. OSBORNE & Co. LONDON.” on either side indicating it was built pre-1899 before the company name was changed and moved to Birmingham, and features an automatic safety.
