LOT 427 Historic Arms Bren Mk 2SA Semi-Automatic Rifle with Extra Magazines, Serial Number “082” - Serial no. 082, 303 British cal., 22 5/8 inch round bbl., parkerized finish, walnut stock. Manufactured in the United States using a combination of new-made components and military-surplus hardware as a semi-automatic, closed-bolt reproduction of the British Bren light machine gun. Licensed as a modified version of the Czech ZB-26 light machine gun in the late 1930s, the Bren, or “Bren Gun” as its users fondly called it, saw extensive use with Britain and Commonwealth forces throughout World War II, the Cold War era, and was even used in the Falklands War, before being phased out in the 1990s. This example is configured as a Bren Mk II, introduced in 1941 with simplified components for ease of manufacture. Features winged blade front and folding peep rear sight, a conical flash hider and adjustable gas block on the Australian “MA” marked and “10 43” dated barrel, and folding steel bipod. With Historic Arms markings on the left and “INGLIS/1943” marked on the right side of the receiver. During the rebuild process the “A” selector position was physically blocked, with only the “S” and “R” positions usable. Fitted with a smooth walnut pistol grip and buttstock with steel buttplate. Includes two khaki “Canadian broad arrow” marked dual Bren magazine web pouches, three extra magazines (one does not completely latch), a spare charging handle rod, and a Bren specific combination tool. CONDITION: Excellent as re-manufactured by Historic Arms, retaining 98% plus parkerized finish with minimal overall handling marks and faint spotting. The walnut furniture is very fine as splice repaired, with a glued crack running up the comb of the buttstock. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 8,500 - 14,000
LOT 428
TNW Inc. World War II German MG 34 Style Belt Fed Semi-Automatic Rifle with Case and Accessories - Serial no. 5660, 7.62 mm Nato cal., 24 inch round bbl., blue finish, birch stock. A semi-automatic only copy of the World War II era German Maschinengewehr (MG) 34 general purpose machine gun, built on a new manufactured receiver made by TNW Inc. of Vernonia, Oregon. A recoil-operated, air-cooled design, the MG 34 was adopted by the German army in 1936 and is considered the world’s fist true general purpose machine gun, intended for use in a variety of different roles from squad level to vehicle mounts and even aircraft point defense. Due to the MG 34’s fine machining and manufacturing requirements along with the associated costs, it was eventually phased out of the role of main line machine gun in favor of the faster firing and more economic MG 42. However, it remained in extensive use up to the end of World War II for its quick change barrel method, which proved more agreeable with vehicle mounts than the MG 42. Features folding blade front and folding elevation adjustable tangent rear sights, ventilated barrel shroud with two bipod attachment points and an anti-aircraft sight base, reversible top cover feed mechanism, left side push lever safety marked “S/F,” and two part trigger marked “E/D” (Note: the “D” marked auto position will only fire this rifle in semi-automatic). The barrel is marked for 7.62mm, and a guide block has been installed in the feed tray for the shorter round. With various German style markings on the components, including “dot/1943” on barrel shroud and “bpr/1942” on the top cover. Fitted with ribbed composite grip handles, birch buttstock, and detachable folding bipod. Includes a hobbyist made transportation crate, ill-fitting reproduction Gurttrommel drum magazine, two MG 34/42 pattern metal ammunition boxes, spare barrel, spare feed tray, spare booster, spare latch component, operator’s manual, several non- disintegrating links, a Lafette 34 field mount, and a copy of “MG34-MG42: German Universal Machine Gun” by Folke Myrvang. CONDITION: Exceptionally fine as manufactured and assembled from surplus parts by TNW Inc., retaining 90% blue finish with scattered light scrapes, edge wear, and minor spotting/pitting. The stock is fine with three plug repairs and cracks. The accompanying accessories are very fine, while the Lafette 34 mount is fine with chipped paint and scattered light spotting/pitting. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 7,000 - 11,000
