Exceptional Factory Master Metschiunig Signed and Deep Relief Game Scene Engraved Karl Hauptmann Over/Under Combination Gun with Swarovski Scope
- Serial no. 233206, 20/5.6x50R gauge, 22 3/16 inch solid
rib bbl., blue/coin finish, walnut stock. Built with blued
steel barrels featuring a ramped beaded blade front sight,
a fixed rear sight with gold centerline, and a set of finely engraved German claw mounts holding a Swarovski Habicht A 3-10x42mm scope all on the matted solid rib which is marked “KARL HAUPTMANN FERLACH” in gold inlay. The shotgun barrel is marked with an import mark under the forend, 2008 dated Ferlach proofs, choke constriction of .014 inches, and chamber marked 3 inches with extractor. The barrels are paired with a beautiful coin finished underlever action which displays near full coverage floral scroll engraving surrounding a two masterfully executed deep relief cut game scenes. The game scene on the left of the action depicts a capercallie cock displaying his tail for a pair of hens in a forested environment and the scene on the right shows a pair of capercallie cocks locked in combat also in a forest. The pudh-forward underlever features a fox amongst the flowering foliage. The engraving is signed “Metschiunig” on the triggerplate to the right of the trigger for the master engraver that executed the engraving on this fine piece.
The gun features bushed firing pins, double triggers (front
is single set), and a tang mounted manual safety with gold
inlaid “S” marking. The gun is fitted with a gorgeous, highly
figured and multi-point checkered three-piece forend with
engraved coin finished fittings and a pistol grip stock with
a three letter monogram on the engraved coin grip cap, a
shadowline cheekpiece, rear sling swivel, and factory rubber recoil pad. Included is an aluminum takedown case and factory test target. Length of pull 14 9/16 inches. Weight 7 lbs. 3 oz. (scope included).
CONDITION: Excellent overall, retaining 99% original blue and coin finishes with minor handling evidence and sharp checkering on the stock and forend. Scope optics are sharp. Mechanically excellent. This is a great chance to own a fabulous piece from one of the great makers of Ferlach!
