Holland & Holland 20 Gauge Boxlock Single Barrel Shotgun with Case - Serial no. 107661, 20 gauge, 28 inch round bbl., blue/ casehardened finish, walnut stock. Built with a blued steel barrel featuring a single nickel bead sight, rear sighting flat marked “HOLLAND & HOLLAND./98. NEW BOND ST. LONDON.”, band of engraving at the breech, original Birmingham proofs on the flats, modern Birmingham proofs ahead of the flats, import mark under forend, choke constriction of .020 inches, and a 2 3/4 inch chamber with extractor. The barrel is mated to a casehardened boxlock action which displays light border engraving and features a tang mounted automatic safety. The likely replacement triggerguard is numbered “20075”. The gun is fitted with a nicely figured and checkered forend with a horn tip and a straight grip stock with blank inscription oval and a 1 1/2 inch extension with checkered bare butt. Includes a wood and canvas takedown case with factory trade label. Stock measurements: 1 3/8 inch drop at comb; 2 1/4 inch drop at heel; 15 1/16 inch length of pull; weight 5 lbs. 6 oz. CONDITION: Very fine as professionally restored, retaining 99% blue on the barrel, 95% case colors, some loose of blue on the triggerguard, light handling evidence, and crisp wood checkering. Factory Engraved Alexander Henry & Co. Sidelock Ejector Double Barrel Shotgun with Case - Serial no. 7895, 12 gauge, 30 inch solid rib bbl., blue/coin finish, walnut stock. Manufactured in 1920 according to page 115 of Nigel Brown’s “British Gunmakers Volume One: London”. Built with blued steel chopperlump barrels featuring a single brass bead sight on the smooth solid rib which is marked with the Alexander Henry & Co. address and a flourish of scroll, engraved bands at the breech, 1998 dated London reproofs on the flats, choke constrictions of .013/.025 inches, and 2 3/4 inch chambers with automatic ejectors. The barrels are mated to a nicely engraved sidelock action which displays Purdey style bouquet & scroll engraving with “ALEXr HENRY & Co.” on either lockplate and niter blue
action screws. The gun features bushed firing pins, double triggers, and a tang mounted automatic safety with gold inlaid “SAFE”. The gun is fitted with an attractively figured and multi-point checkered forend with engraved fittings and a straight grip stock with teardrop carved drop points, blank gold inscription oval, and a checkered bare butt. Includes a non-matching wood and canvas takedown case, glass oiler, and cleaning tools. Stock measurements: 1 1/2 inch drop at comb; 2 1/4 inch drop at heel; 14 11/16 inch length of pull; weight 6 lbs. 9 oz. CONDITION: Very fine as refurbished, retaining 99% blue finish, smooth coin grey on the action, faded markings on the barrel rib, light handling evidence, and sharp recut checkering on the revarnished wood. Factory Engraved J. Yates/Richard Ellis & Sons Double Barrel Hammer Shotgun with Case - Serial no. 1038, 12 gauge, 30 1/8 inch solid rib bbl., blue/casehardened finish, walnut stock. Built with blued steel barrels featuring a single brass bead sight on the wide matted solid rib, “RICHARD ELLIS & SONS.” and “St. MARY’S, BIRMINGHAM” marked on the right and left respectively, 2018 dated London reproofs on the flats along with the “SLEEVED” marking, choke constriction of .025/.032 inches, and 2 3/4 inch chambers with single extractor. The barrels are mated to a casehardened hammer sidelock action which displays attractive scroll engraving and is marked “J. YATES” on either lockplate. The gun features rebounding hammers and double triggers. The gun is fitted
with a beautifully figured and multi-point checkered forend with engraved fittings and a round knob pistol grip stock with “JX” in the gold inscription oval, a rabbit in the silver
oval, and a Kick-Eez recoil pad. Included is a wood and leather takedown case. Stock measurements: 1 3/4 inch drop at comb; 1 15/16 inch drop at heel; 15 inch length of pull; weight 7 lbs. 15 oz. CONDITION: Very fine, retaining 99% professionally reapplied blue, original case colors around the hammers with the balance a fine grey, minor handling evidence, and sharp checkering on the replacement wood. 12 gauge, 27 inch solid rib bbl., blue/casehardened finish, walnut stock. Built with blued steel barrels featuring a single bead sight on the matted solid rib, “WILLIAM FORD.” and “15. St MARY’S ROW. BIRMINGHAM” marked on the right and left tubes respectively, period Birmingham nitro proofs and import mark on the flats, choke constrictions of .000/.031 inches, and chambers proofed for “1
1/2” oz shot (3 inch) with automatic ejectors. The barrels are mated to a boxlock action which displays attractive scroll engraving with pheasants on the left
and a setter on the right as well as “WILLIAM FORD” on either side. The gun features double triggers and a tang mounted safety (currently stuck in fire position).
The gun is fitted with a beautifully figured and multi-point checkered forend with engraved fittings and a round knob pistol grip stock with teardrop carved drop points,
blank silver inscription oval, and a leather covered recoil pad. Included is a more modern wood and leather takedown case, nickel snap caps, oiler, extra strikers, and cleaning
tools. Stock measurements: 1 9/16 inch drop at comb; 2 3/16 inch drop at heel; 15 3/16 inch length of pull; cast-off; weight 7 lbs. 10 oz. CONDITION: Very fine, retaining 99% reapplied blue on the barrels, smooth grey patina on the action, faded blue on the lower tang, and light handling evidence. The revarnished wood is very fine with a few light dings and scratches and crisp checkering. The case is very fine. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 1,500 - 2,500

Factory Engraved T. Stensby & Co. Boxlock Double Barrel Shotgun with Case - Serial no. 1425, 12 gauge, 30 inch solid rib bbl., blue/coin finish, walnut stock. Manufactured between 1930 and 1934 according to Nigel Brown on page 179 of “British Gunmakers Volume Two: Birmingham, Scotland, and the Regions”. Built with blued steel barrels featuring a single brass bead sight on the matted solid rib, Sleeved marked on the flats along with 1979 and 1986 dated Birmingham reproofs, choke constrictions of .021/.035 inches, and 3 inch chambers with automatic ejectors. The barrels are fitted to a coin finished boxlock action which displays floral scroll engraving surrounding “T. STENSBY & Co.” banners on either side and featuring double triggers and a tang mounted manual safety. The gun is fitted with a beautifully
figured and multi-point checkered forend with engraved fittings and a straight grip stock with teardrop carved drop points, blank silver inscription oval, and a Kick-Eez recoil pad. Includes a wood and leather takedown case and a pair of snap caps. Stock measurements: 1 9/16 inch drop at comb; 2 9/16 inch drop at heel; 14 7/8 inch length of pull; cast-off; weight 8 lbs. 7 oz.
