Very Fine Cecil G. Brooks Personal Cased Pair of Engraved, Gold Inlaid, Silver Mounted, and Relief Carved Contemporary Kentucky Pistols and Accessories -A) C.G. Brooks Flintlock Kentucky Pistol - Serial no. 12, 38 cal., 10 inch octagon bbl., bright/ silver finish, curly maple stock. These pistols were handcrafted by the late master gunmaker Cecil G. Brooks (1913-2006). Brooks hand built all of the NRA keynote speaker presentation rifles from 1955
to 2005, including Charlton Heston who held the rifle over his head during the famous “out of my cold, dead hands” speech. He also built rifles on custom order for regular folks, and his firearms are highly prized and valuable collectibles. The maple case for this pair has a brass plaque inscribed: “The/Personal/Guns/of C.G. Brooks.” The pistols are a matched pair with the first in flintlock configuration and the second in percussion. They feature extensive embellishment consisting of engraving, pairs of gold bands at the muzzle and breech ends of the barrels, silver mounts, and a mix of raised relief and incised carving on the curly maple stocks. The case contains a coordinating powder flask with “BROOKS/1986” and a squirrel scene on it, .38 caliber ball mold with antler handles, an antler powder measure, eagle head vent pick with antler sheath, and a small Hazard powder tin.
CONDITION: Very fine overall with generally only minor
age and storage related wear and some scrapes on the
frizzen. Mechanically excellent. The case and accessories
are also very fine with minor storage wear and loose
collars on the mold.

CONDITION: Very fine overall with some light handling
and storage wear. Mechanically excellent.

Very Fine Cased Pair of Contemporary Flintlock Kentucky Pistols with Gold and Silver Inlays by Don King -A) D. King Flintlock Pistol - NSN, 45 cal., 10
inch octagon bbl., brown/silver/nickel silver finish, curly maple stock. U.S. Marine Corps veteran and gunmaker Don King (1930-2018) was a talented and well-respected maker of a wide variety of traditional contemporary muzzle-loaders and was awarded the Contemporary Longrifle Association’s Pioneer Award in 2010. These classic Kentucky pistols feature deeply coned rifled barrels with filed muzzles, silver inlaid bands just
behind the muzzles, dovetailed silver blade front sights, dovetailed notch rear sights with small accent lines, “D King” signed in gold inlay on top of the breech section of the first pistol and “Wichita” on the second, gold lined priming pans, light engraving, mix of nickel-silver and silver furniture, and inlaid silver accents. The wrist escutcheons are inscribed with “H”. The pair comes in
a highly figured maple case with a screwdriver and a small powder horn.
CONDITION: Very fine as custom made overall 98% plus original brown finish, bright gold, aged patina on the
silver, bright nickel silver furniture, and only minimal firing and handling wear. Mechanically excellent. The
case is also very fine with minor age and storage related wear. B) D. King Flintlock Pistol - NSN, 45 cal., 10
inch octagon bbl., brown/silver/nickel silver finish, curly maple stock.
CONDITION: Very fine as custom made overall 98% plus original brown finish, bright gold, aged patina on the silver, bright nickel silver furniture, and only minimal firing and handling wear. Mechanically excellent. This is a stunning cased pair of flintlock pistols by a well-respected contemporary maker.
