Ludwig Loewe Model 1893 Borchardt Semi-Automatic Pistol with Three-Digit Serial Number, Shoulder Stock, and Accessories - Serial no. 497, 7.65 mm Borchardt Auto cal., 7 1/2 inch round bbl., blue finish, walnut grips. Manufactured in the 1890s
by the firm of Ludwig Loewe (later DWM), the Model 1893 was the work of Hugo Borchardt, formerly the Superintendent of Sharps Rifle
Manufacturing Company, and was among the first viable semi-automatic pistol designs to hit the commercial market. The Borchardt Pistol was also an important
forerunner to the work of Georg Luger, who would refine the core mechanical principles of the Borchardt to make his own eponymous and world famous handgun.
Fixed blade and notch sights, with “WAFFENFABRIK/LOEWE/BERLIN.” marked on top of the chamber, “SYSTEM BORCHARDT. PATENT.” on the right of the frame, and
the patent marking “D.R.P./No. 75837” on the front toggle link. A series of “(crown)/letter” (B, U, and G) proofs are present on the barrel, barrel extension and toggle
assembly, with the “172,28” bore diameter on the left side of the barrel and matching external serial numbers. Niter blue and straw colored small parts, with smooth borders on the
finely checkered hardwood grip panels with the matching serial number stamped on the insides and on the walnut base
of the nickel finished magazine. Included with the lot is a matching numbered extra magazine, matching numbered
board stock with “J.R. JONES” stamped on the side and an unmarked detachable cheek rest, pigskin holster, leather straps and an English-language manual.
CONDITION: Fine, with 60% of the original blue finish, showing areas of brown and gray patina, scattered spotting, patches of shallow oxidization concentrated on the sides of the barrel and left side of the frame, edge wear, and mild handling marks. The grips are good, with moderate wear, some dings and varnish loss. Mechanically fine.

DWM Model 1902 Luger Semi- Automatic Carbine with Shoulder Stock - Serial no. 23997,
7.65 mm Luger Auto cal., 11 3/4 inch round bbl., blue finish, walnut stock, walnut grips. These Model 1902 Luger carbines were an attempt by DWM to a produce a lightweight rifle substitute.
There were a total of 2,500 of this model reportedly produced in two serial number blocks. The desirable features of these carbines include the long frame, flat
mainspring, grip safety, dished toggles, recessed/flat breech bolt, and the 11 3/4 inch barrel. Due to the longer barrel, these carbines have a small spring accelerator mechanism in
the forearm that aids in cycling. Fitted with a three position rear sight (adjustable from 100-300 meters) mounted on top of the barrel in front of the receiver and a bead front sight mounted on a ramp on top of the barrel. The top of the chamber area is blank, and the front toggle has the DWM logo. Full serial number marked on the frame extension and the underside
of the barrel. The last two digits of the serial number are marked on the bottom of the recoil lug, grip safety, trigger, takedown lever, side plate, breech bolt, and toggle assembly. Numbered “511” inside the replacement forend. Unnumbered replacement walnut grips. Fitted with a nickel plated magazine with “GERMANY” stamped
on the wooden base. The included period walnut shoulder stock features a checkered wrist, lower sling swivel, black horn buttplate, and is numbered “506” on top of the attaching iron.
CONDITION: Fine, retains 60% faded original blue finish with freckling and edge wear, handling marks, some patches of light pitting, and recut checkering on the re-oiled replacement grips. The bolt hold open is not properly functioning, otherwise mechanically fine. The shoulder stock is fine, with some light handling marks and dents, some patches of light corrosion visible on the iron, and numerous insect holes on the buttplate.
