Blued steel barrels with high visibility front and mix bead sights on the matted vent rib, standard markings, gold inlaid “MX8” on the left near the upper breech, and 3 inch chambers with automatic ejectors. The vibrantly casehardened
action shows border engraving and features a single trigger and a tang mounted manual safety. Nicely figured, multi- point checkered forend with engraved fittings and pistol grip stock with a brown ventilated rubber recoil pad. Includes a Browning takedown case with some small parts and an extra set of barrels, and also stock measurement documentation dated “6/9/72”. stock. Blued excelsior steel barrels with 2003 dated proofs, single steel bead front sight on the matted vent rib, chambers marked 3”, Mobilchoke tube system (skeet/skeet installed), and
a band of light engraving at the breech. The coin finished action displays a mix of tight and broad
floral scroll with “P.BERETTA” on a scroll on both sides, and “P.Beretta/687 EXTRA” on the underside. The sideplates depict game scenes of a pair of pheasant on the left in a field, and a duo of mallards on the right in a marsh. The trigger plate is signed “Bottega C. Giovanelli” for the engraving firm. Mounted in a magnificently figured, multipoint checkered Schnabel tip forend and pistol grip stock with engraved fittings, blank initial escutcheon, and Beretta recoil pad. Includes original shipping box, takedown case, thee extra choke tubes (full, improved modified, and cylinder), a pair of snap caps, and an extra recoil pad. Barrel and stock measurements (U/O): bore diameter nine inches from the breech .724/.724 inches; minimum wall thickness .038/.037 inches; 1 1/2 inch drop at comb; 2 5/16 inch drop at heel; 14 1/4 inch length of pull; weight 7 lbs. 8 oz. Set with Case - Serial no. N54745B, 20 gauge, 28 inch vent rib bbl., blue/coin finish, walnut stock. Built with a single nickel bead sight on the matted vent rib which is
marked with a gold “1” at the base, light scroll engraving around the upper chamber, interchangeable chokes (modified/improved cylinder installed), and 3 inch chambers with automatic ejectors.
The barrels are fitted to a coin finished sideplated action which displays floral scroll engraving surrounding a trio of pheasants on the left and a pair of snipes on the right. The engraving is singed on the triggerplate “Bottega C. Giovanelli”. The gun features a single gold trigger and a tang mounted automatic safety/selector. The gun is mounted with a beautifully figured and multi-point checkered forend with engraved coin fittings and a gold “1” on the release as well as a round knob pistol grip stock with blank gold inscription oval and a leather wrapped recoil pad. Included is a second matching 28 inch 28 gauge barrel set with gold “2”s in the place of the “1”s, interchangeable chokes (modified/improved cylinder installed), and 2 3/4 inch chambers. Also included is a factory takedown case that houses the set and four extra chokes (improved modified and full (28 ga.) and cylinder and full (20 ga.). Barrel and stock measurements (U/O): bore diameter nine inches from the breech both proofed at 15.9mm (.626 inches) and measured .628 inches; minimum wall thickness .042/.042 inches; 1 5/8 inch drop at comb; 2 3/8 inch drop at heel; 14 3/4 inch length of pull; weight 6 lbs. 2 oz. CONDITION: Excellent, retaining 98% original blue and coin finishes with minor handling evidence and slight speckling on the upper tang. The wood is very good with numerous small scratches, some wear to the recoil pad, and overall sharp checkering. The extra barrel set is excellent. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 4,000 - 7,000
