Scarce DWM Model 1906 “American Eagle” Commercial Luger Semi-Automatic Pistol -
Serial no. 68336, 7.65 mm Luger Auto cal., 4 3/4 inch round bbl., blue/straw finish, walnut grips. One of roughly 7,500 to 8,500 Model 1906 “American Eagle” commercial Luger pistols chambered
in 7.65 mm

that were
manufactured by DWM. These pistols were
made specifically for the United States market and
were sold through sporting goods stores and catalogs.
The Model 1906 incorporated improved components
over the Model 1900, including a solid checkered toggle,
coiled recoil spring, and more durable extractor. Features
fixed sights, grip safety, an “American eagle” crest on top of the
chamber, “GERMANY” export mark on front of the frame, and “DWM” monogram
on the front toggle. “Crown/N” proofs on the extension, front toggle link, and
breech block. The extractor is marked “LOADED”, and the lower safety position is left bright. Matching visible “commercial” pattern serial numbers on the barrel and frame,
with matching “36” partials on the takedown lever, trigger, side plate, toggle links, breech block, extension, and grip safety. Fitted with a set of unnumbered checkered walnut grips and a nickel plated magazine with unmarked walnut base.
CONDITION: Excellent, retaining 95% plus original blue finish and 80% plus original straw colors with limited edge wear, limited spotting, minor freckling, and minor handling marks. Grips are also excellent with crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.

Marked Barrel - Serial no. 2986i, 9 mm Luger cal.,
4 3/4 inch round bbl., blue/straw finish, walnut grips.
Mostly manufactured in Germany, a small number
of Luger pistols are known to have been routed through
Switzerland after World War I, where they could be fitted with
barrels that exceeded the lengths permitted by the Treaty of
Versailles prior to further export to Abercrombie & Fitch Company of New York,
then the largest outfitting and sporting goods firm in the United States. The barrels were manufactured by Hammerli, who marked the barrels “ABERCROMBIE & FITCH Co NEW YORK MADE IN SWITZERLAND” on top. Features fixed blocked blade front and notch rear sights, Swiss “cross in starburst” on the chamber, and a “DWM” monogram on the front toggle. Extractor marked “GELADEN” and safety polished
bright in lower position.
The small parts
are straw
finished,
and nickel
finished
magazine.
CONDITION:
Exceptionally fine, retaining 85%
plus original blue and 70% straw
finishes with light edge wear,
scattered faint spotting. The grips
are very fine with crisp checkering.
Mechanically excellent.
Estimate: 3,000 - 4,250
sear, and breech block catch. Fitted with a pair of replacement checkered walnut grips numbered to different pistols and a nickel finished magazine with unmarked walnut base. Includes a board shoulder stock numbered “4868” on the iron, “R.Kuhlewien&Co/ERFURT/1916” marked leather flap holster with “D.A.III.” unit mark on the interior, takedown tool, and cleaning rod.
CONDITION: Exceptionally fine, retaining 90% plus original blue finish and 75% plus straw colors with minor holster pattern edge wear, minor oxidation in recessed areas, limited patina, and otherwise limited mild handling evidence and crisp markings. The replacement grips are also exceptionally fine with
slightly softened checkering and rich
oil finish. Mechanically
excellent. The board
shoulder stock is very fine
with minor pitting on the
iron, the holster is fine
with scuffs, while the leather
straps are fair with cracking
and tearing.

Excellent DWM
Model 1906 Commercial Luger Semi-Automatic
Pistol - Serial no. 67742, 9 mm Luger cal., 4 inch
round bbl., blue finish, walnut grips. These Luger Model
1906 commercial pistols were mostly made for export
to the United States for commercial sale. The top of the
chamber area is blank, and the DWM logo is on the front
toggle. Export stamped “GERMANY” on the bottom front of the frame ahead of
the trigger guard. “Crown/N” commercial proof marks on the barrel extension and underside of the barrel. Matching serial numbers visible on various components, with unnumbered standard checkered walnut grips and nickel plated magazine with an unmarked walnut base.
CONDITION: Excellent, retains 95% plus original blue finish with some light
handling marks and 85% original straw finish on the small components. The
grips are also excellent with
crisp checkering and
a few light
handling marks.
Mechanically excellent.

fixed blade front and adjustable tangent rear (graduated from 1 to 8) sights on the “crown/Gothic letter” and “imperial
eagle” proofed barrel, “1914” date on top of the chamber with
“crown/Gothic letter” and “imperial eagle” proofs on the left of the extension, “Crown/ ERFURT” marked on the front toggle link, and “crown/Gothic letter” proofs on the niter
blue and straw colored components. With matching serial numbers on the frame, barrel, and extension, along with matching “29” partials marked on small components including the safety,
