Holland & Holland Bolt Action Rifle in .458 Winchester Magnum with Swarovski Scope - Serial no. 4069, 458 Win Mag cal., 25 inch round bbl., blue finish, walnut stock. Built between 1974 and 1983 per page 353 of Donald Dallas’“Holland & Holland: The Royal Gunmaker” on a DWM Model 98 action by the esteemed firm of Holland and Holland in England. The straight taper barrel is fitted with a ramped beaded blade front sight with folding hood, central sling eye on a partial band, and two leaf (one standing, one folding) marked for 50/200 and 350 yards. The barrel is marked “Holland & Holland. 33 Bruton Street. London” ahead of the rear sight and “.458 WINCHESTER/MAGNUM” behind it with London proofs on the right side of the chamber. The receiver ring is matted on top with a British proof on the right side. Mounted atop the action is a Swarovski Habicht 1.5-4.5x20A scope in a matching number scope mount. Fitted with a serrated trigger, Model 98 style flag safety with gold inlaid “SAFE”, and “3 CARTRIDGES” engraved on the floorplate. The serial number “4069” is stamped on the underside of the barrel and action, and inside the stock inlet as well as hand
cut on the triggerguard and rear scope ring. Mounted in a beautifully contrasted, multipoint checkered walnut stock with Oberndorf magazine, shadowline cheekpiece, floral engraved casehardened crossbolt, casehardened trapdoor grip cap, rear sling eye, blank initial escutcheon, and leather wrapped recoil pad. CONDITION: Excellent overall, retaining 95% plus original blue finish with some high edge wear, and an attractive plum coloration on the firing pin shroud, some scattered minor handling marks, hairline stress line at the top tang and crisp stock checkering.
