Scarce Original Beretta 92F Slide-Lock Semi-Automatic Pistol with Registered Original Matching Numbered Knight’s Armament “SNAP-ON” 9 MM Silencer -A) Beretta
92F Slide-Lock Semi-Automatic Pistol - Serial no. D44251Z, 9 mm Luger cal., 5 1/2 inch round bbl., black finish, black checkered plastic grips.
This is a very scarce Pietro Beretta Model 92F that has been factory modified with an external slide lock and an extended barrel to use with the KAC Snap-On 9 mm
silencer. This design of pistol was developed in the late 1970s at the request of the Navy initially and then later the U.S. Army. The basic M92F pistol was used to which a one-piece yoke was attached to the underside of the pistol. It was hinged on two screws at the front end, with the rear end swinging up and down. At the rear of this
yoke mechanism was a locking lug that when pushed upwards would engaged into
corresponding notches on the underside of the slide. This would prevent the slide from cycling when the
pistol was fired which made it much quieter. Very similar to the original concept used during Vietnam on the
S&W Model 39s, a.k.a. the “Hush Puppy” as the Navy SEALs used them to eliminate guard dogs. As noted the
pistol is also fitted with an extended barrel designed for use with the KAC silencer. This scarce pistol comes
with its original Beretta blue plastic case with a manual and a number of plastic wipe inserts for the silencer.
There are several references to this pistol design and KAC silencer noted on pages 303-305 in the book “The
U.S. Military Automatic Pistols 1945-2012” by Meadows.
CONDITION: Excellent with 99% of the original finish. The grips are also excellent. Mechanically excellent. The
case in excellent, showing only minor edge wear, and the wipes are disintegrating. B) Knight’s Armament
“SNAP-ON” 9 mm Silencer, Class III/NFA Silencer - Serial no. D44251Z, 9 mm cal., black finish. Designed
by Knight’s Armament Company circa 1979, the Snap-On (also known as the XM-9 in military service) that
was made to fit on the corresponding Beretta M92F semi-automatic pistol, with a spring loaded locking
device that engages cutouts on the sides of the barrel when installed. When in place the top section of the locking device
actually functions as a raised rear sight and there is a corresponding small silver bead on the top front end of the suppressor that acts as a front sight. Approximately 5 1/2 inches long and 1 1/2
inches in diameter. The outside of the tube is marked, “MFG. BY KNIGHT’S ARMAMENT/VERO BEACH, FL./9MM SNAP-ON/SER. NO. D444251Z”.
CONDITION: Excellent with 99% of the original finish, showing light handling marks. The baffles have been shot out. NOTE: This Silencer is a National Firearms Act (NFA), fully transferable Class 3, which is registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, (BATFE) under the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 479, National Firearms Act.
