Late World War II German Gustloff Werke “bcd/4” K98k Long Rail Bolt Action
Sniper Rifle with Scope, Matching Mount and Matching Scope Can - Serial no. 89765, 7.92 mm
Mauser cal., 23 3/4 inch round bbl., phosphate/blue finish, walnut stock. Manufactured late in the war in Suhl, this Gustloff Werke K98k rifle is outfitted in the “long rail sniper” configuration, with the 3 1/2 inch long mounting rail secured to the receiver side wall with two guide pins and three screws, the latter also fitted with a set of smaller lock screws; mechanically this mounting system was very similar to the American-fielded M1C Sniper, though the use of an extended mount arrangement to bring the scope directly over the bore simplified armorer installation and end-user adjustment of the optics. The rifle is fitted with a “dow” code Dialytan 4x scope numbered “19510” on the tube and matching numbered “89765” on the mount. Hooded blade front sight and tangent rear sight, with manufacturer code “bcd/4” marked on the receiver ring, and “Bp” on the breech of the barrel. Small eagle proofs stamped on some components. The base is marked with an “eagle/359” proof. The bolt components are numbered to match the barrel, with a “key” profile sniper type safety. Fitted with a smooth pistol grip stock (no numbers visible inside the stock channels), bearing a faint Heer “eagle/H” stamp on the right of the buttstock, with a checkered cupped steel buttplate. High quality examples of late war German sniper rifles are very rare on the market, as many snipers made a point to destroy or discard their equipment prior to capture for fear of reprisals. Includes a period leather sling, original scope can with the matching number “89765” stamped on the outside, reproduction leather lens caps, scope rail cover, tool, and the standard type matching numbered safety also included separately.
CONDITION: Extremely fine, retains 75% plus original phosphate finish with smooth brown patina on the balance, scattered light spotting, and the scope mounting rail retains 80% original blue finish. The stock is fine as sanded and re-oiled, with some light handling marks. Mechanically excellent. Scope is fine, retains 60% original blue finish on the tube and 85% original blue finish on the rings and mount, and the optics are hazy but viewable with a solid reticle and smooth adjustment.
 Estimate: 13,000 - 19,000

LOT 1372
World War II German Berlin-Lubecker “duv 43” Code G41 Semi-Automatic Rifle
- Serial no. 9697D, 8 mm cal., 22 inch round bbl., blue finish, laminate stock. Manufactured in 1943
before the introduction of the G43 rifle, the G41 was one of the only production model semi-automatic rifles to
use the “gas trap” system, as opposed to the gas port used on the G43, which has become the de-facto standard for gas-operated weaponry from World War II up through
the modern day. The barrel has the standard blade front and tangent rear sights, the model and manufacturer markings on the left side of the finely machined receiver, machined
metal dust cover, and a machined bolt carrier with a solid cocking knob, and a left side mounted bolt catch. A set of scope rails are integrally machined into the receiver around the rear
sight for use with a ZF41-pattern low-powered marksman optic. Fitted with a smooth laminated pistol grip stock, with a double “eagle/Waffenamt” proof on the right side, sling, resin handguard and a cupped stamped steel buttplate.
CONDITION: Fine, with 60% of the original blue finish, showing a mixed brown patina on the remainder, spotting on the buttplate, and mild handling
marks overall. The external numbers are matching, with mixed numbers on some of the internals. The stock is fine as lightly sanded and re-oiled, with
faint markings and a few mild dents. Mechanically excellent.
