LOT 1373 Excellent World War II Era German Krieghoff “P” Code Commercial Luger Semi-Automatic Pistol - Serial no. P1089, 9 mm Luger cal., 4 inch round bbl., blue finish, plastic grips. This is an outstanding original example of a German Krieghoff Commercial Luger semi-automatic pistol manufactured post-1940. Components used in the construction of these pistols included rejected Luftwaffe contract parts, with one of the distinctive quirks as a result being a noticeable gap between the breech block and chamber as found on this example. Reference pages 283-288 of “Third Reich Lugers” by Jan C. Still for more information of the variations of these pistols. Features blade front and notch rear sights, with an unnumbered “eagle/N” and Luftwaffe “stick eagle/2” proofed barrel, undated chamber, and “eagle/N” proof on the left of the frame. The left side of the extension is “eagle/N” proofed, with a “star” mark on the right indicating use of rejected Luftwaffe parts. Luftwaffe “stick eagle/2” proofs on the toggle links and breech block. With “P” code prefix on front of the frame, and matching serial number on the extension. Finished primarily in blue, with straw finished small parts. Fitted with correct checkered brown plastic grips, and nickel plated magazine with base numbered “1098”. CONDITION: Excellent, retaining 98% plus bright original blue finish and 90% plus straw colors, with light high spot wear. Grips are also excellent with crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.
