Factory Engraved Winchester 20 Gauge Custom Grade Double Barrel Shotgun with Cody Letter and Case - Serial no. W31033, 20 gauge, 26 inch solid rib bbl., blue finish, deluxe checkered walnut
stock. Built with blued Winchester Proof Steel barrels featuring a single bead sight on the matted concave solid rib which is marked “CUSTOM BUILT BY WINCHESTER FOR J. M. MORTON”, standard markings, chokes marked “IMP-CYL”/”MOD”, jewelled flats, and 3 inch chambers with automatic ejectors. The barrels are fitted to a blued boxlock action which displays Winchester’s classic Custom Grade engraving consisting of attractive scrollwork on all sides which extends to the toplever, triggerguard,
and both tangs. The gun features a single selective gold trigger and a tang mounted non-automatic safety with gold inlaid “SAFE” indicator.

The gun is mounted with a beautifully figured
and multi-point checkered beavertail forend with
engraved fittings, rotary latch, and an ebony tip inlay
as well as a straight grip stock with a blank gold
inscription oval and a checkered bare butt. Included
is a copy of the order sheet which confirms the current gauge, grade, barrel length, and chokes as well as a copy Cody letter which lists the order date as January 10, 1972, and a completion date of February 2, 1972, making it one of just 268 Model 21s completed with this engraving pattern between 1969 and 1982. Also included is a Winchester branded wood and leather takedown case and snap caps. Barrel and stock measurements

CONDITION: Very fine overall, retaining 98% plus
factory quality refinished blue with a few spots of
very minor thinning, minor handling evidence, and
sharp checkering on the refinished stock and forend.
Mechanically excellent. The case is excellent.
