Outstanding Casehardened Winchester Second Model 1890 Slide Action Takedown Rifle in .22 WRF with Factory Letter - Serial no. 71715, 22 WRF cal., 24 inch octagon bbl., blue/casehardened finish, walnut stock. Manufactured in 1899, the included factory letter lists this rifle in Winchester Rimfire when received in the warehouse on September 5, 1899 and shipped on September 9, 1899 with
order number 37536. Fitted with beaded blade front and elevation adjustable rear sight. The octagon barrel is stamped with the first style inscription with the desirable “22 W.R.F.” caliber marking. The receiver and trigger group have the
desirable casehardened finish and is marked “WINCHESTER/-MODEL 1890-” on the upper tang with
the serial number on the lower tang. Mounted with a 12 groove forend and lightly figured straight
grip buttstock with crescent buttplate.
CONDITION: Excellent retaining 95% original blue finish and 85% original vibrant case colors with
handling marks concentrated on the lower front of the receiver, some pitting on the right side of the
receiver, slide retraction marks, and a dark patina on the tangs. Wood is very fine with some scattered minor dings and scratches. Mechanically excellent.

Documented Special Order Winchester Model 1890 Slide Action Rifle in .22 Short with Attractive Factory Fancy Stock and Forend and Factory Letter - Serial no. 167854, 22 RF Short cal., 24 inch octagon bbl., blue finish, highly figured
smooth walnut stock. Manufactured in 1903, the included factory letter confirms the caliber, uncheckered fancy stock, and June 23, 1903 date of shipment. Beaded blade front and elevation adjustable rear notch sights,
third style barrel inscription, “22 SHORT” caliber marking on top barrel flat at the breech, Second
Model receiver with hidden locking lugs, standard markings on the upper tang, and serial number on
the lower. Fancy figured XX walnut 12 groove slide handle and special order non-checkered straight
grip stock with casehardened steel crescent buttplate. The left side of the lower tang is marked “XX
3935” with matching assembly number “3935” on the buttstock end and inside of the buttplate.
CONDITION: Very fine with 80% plus bright original blue finish on the barrel, cycling marks on the magazine tube and receiver rails, well defined markings, and vibrant case colors on the hammer. The wood is also very fine with attractive figure, scattered small dings, and a mostly silvered out gray patina on the buttplate with patterns of original case colors. Mechanically excellent.
