Factory Game Scene Engraved Pre-World War II Immanuel
Meffert Hubertus Dural Vierling with Zeiss Scope - Serial no. 63405, 16/9.3x53/5.4mm gauge, 23 11/16 inch solid rib bbl., blue/brush bright finish, walnut stock. Built with blued steel barrels
featuring a beaded blade front sight and flip-
up rear sight on the raised rib which contains
the barrel chambered for 5.4mm rimfire (.22
LR) and retailer marked “D. KNECHT. OLTEN.” The barrels show a band of engraving at the breech, 1936 dated German proofs, import mark under the forend,
and a quick detach scope mount holding a Zeiss Diavari-Z 4x32mm scope. The shotgun barrels
have choke constrictions of .042/.045 inches and 2 1/2 inch chambers and an extractor. The main rifle barrel is marked as being chambered for 9.3x53R Scheiz. The barrels are fitted to a brush
finished lightweight alloy action with scroll engraving, mallards on the left, a rabbit scene on the right, and “DURAL/
HUBERTUS/SUHL” on the underside. The gun features dual single set triggers, bushed firing pins, cocking indicators, Greener style safety, and a tang mounted selector. With lightly figured and multi-point checkered forend with engraved fittings and pistol grip stock with horn grip cap, raised cheekpiece, and a serrated horn buttplate. Length of pull 14 1/8 inches. Weight 7 lbs. 13 oz. with scope.
CONDITION: Excellent overall, retaining 98% original blue and brushed finishes, minor handling evidence, a few pressure marks in the wood, and sharp checkering on the forend and stock. Mechanically excellent. Scope optics are clear.
chopperlump barrels featuring a single white bead sight on the concave matted solid rib which is marked “1790 - Josef Just, Ferlach - 1990” in fine gold inlay, small wedges of scroll at either breech, 1990 dated Ferlach proofs, import mark under the forend, and 3 inch chambers with automatic ejectors. The barrels are fitted to a gorgeous coin finished sidelock action which displays
near full coverage scroll engraving with deeply cut vines running through the center of all sides. The scroll surrounds
the gold plated pins and continues onto the triggerguard, toplever, and both tangs. Along with a gold inlaid “S” at the
bottom of the exposed barrel lug. The gun features bushed firing pins, dual gold triggers, gold cocking indicators, and
a tang mounted automatic safety with gold “S” indicator. The engraving is signed to the right of the trigger “Christian
Damsberger”. The gun is mounted with a beautifully figured and multi-point checkered splinter forend with engraved
Deeley release and shoe and a straight grip stock with black rubber recoil pad. Included is a wood and leather takedown
case, a pair of snap caps, and a nickel oiler. Barrel and stock measurements (R/L): bore diameter nine inches from the
breech both measure .616 inches; choke constriction .010/.022 inches; minimum wall thickness .034/.035 inches; 1 1/2 inch drop at comb; 2 inch drop at heel; 14 3/4 inch length of pull; weight 6 lbs. 7 oz.
CONDITION: Excellent overall, retaining 99% original blue and coin finishes with minor handling evidence some dried grease on the action, and sharp checkering on
the stock and forend. Ejectors trip when forend is released requiring manual reset, otherwise mechanically excellent. Case is very fine with some storage wear. A great
chance to own a beautiful piece from one of Ferlach’s greats!
