20 Gauge VHE Grade “A1 Special” DoubleBarrel
Shotgun - Serial no. 214288, 20 gauge, 26 inch solid rib bbl., blue/ casehardened finish, walnut stock. Manufactured in 1925 and subsequently beautifully upgraded to its current configuration by American Engraver Virgil
Graham. The gun has blued steel barrels featuring a single white bead sight on the matted concave solid rib which is marked “PARKER BROS. MAKERS. MERIDEN. CT. U.S.A PEERLESS STEEL”, 2 1/4 inch wedges of scroll engraving at either breech, and 2
1/2 inch chambers with automatic ejectors. The barrels are mated to a casehardened boxlock action which displays near full coverage floral scroll engraving surrounding “Parker” inlaid in gold on the underside before extending to the triggerguard, toplever, and both tangs, the lower of which shows the serial
number inlaid in gold. The upgrade work is signed in two places, on the barrel lump and on the watertable, with both stamped “V.Graham”. The gun is fitted with a beautifully figured and fancy checkered and carved beavertail forend with engraved fittings and a pistol grip stock with carved flats and drop points, hard rubber
grip cap, and an engraved skeleton buttplate around a checkered bare butt. Barrel and stock measurements (R/L): bore diameter nine inches from the breech .620/.622 inches; choke constriction .014/.029 inches; minimum wall thickness .022/.024 inches; 1 3/8 inch drop at comb; 2 3/8 inch drop at heel; 14 5/16 inch length of pull; weight 6 lbs. 14 oz.
CONDITION: Very fine as upgraded by Virgil Graham, retaining 99% blue and casehardened finishes with minor handling evidence. The wood is also very fine with a pair of chips in the varnish on the left of the stock and sharp checkering. Mechanically excellent.

31058, 12 gauge, 26 inch solid rib bbl., blue/casehardened finish, walnut stock. Manufactured in 1925 and built with blued
steel barrels featuring dual white bead sights on the matted solid rib,
“CHROMOX FLUID COMPRESSED STEEL” and “MADE BY A. H. FOX GUN Co. PHILA. PA. U.S.A.” marked on the right and left tube respectively, 2 inch wedges of floral
scroll at either breech, and 2 3/4” chambers with automatic ejectors. The barrels are fitted to a casehardened action which displays the classic XE Grade engraving with a pair of ducks in flight on the left, a pair of grouse on the right, and a fox on the underside all surrounded by attractive scrollwork. The
gun features a Fox-Kautzky single trigger with gold inlaid indicators and a tang mounted automatic safety. The gun is mounted with a nicely figured and multi-point checkered beavertail forend with casehardened and engraved fittings and a Deeley type release and a pistol grip stock with checkered
flats, hard rubber factory grip cap, and an orange rubber recoil pad. Barrel and stock measurements (R/L): bore diameter nine inches from the breech .725/.726 inches; choke constriction .008/.027 inches; minimum wall thickness .030/.028 inches; 1 11/16 inch drop at comb; 2 3/8 inch drop at heel; 13 15/16
inch length of pull; weight 7 lbs. 3 oz.
CONDITION: Very fine as professionally refurbished, retaining 95% blue finish with the loss mostly under the forend, 90% case colors with the loss on the triggerguard, a few freckles of spotting on the barrels, and some scratches towards the right muzzle. The wood has a few scratches and sharp checkering. Mechanically excellent.
