One of the Finest Known, Policias Fiscales Chile Factory Marked Marlin Model 94 Lever Action Saddle Ring “Trapper’s” Carbine with ATF Exempted 15 Inch Barrel - Serial no. 421459, 44-40 WCF cal., 15 inch round bbl., blue finish, walnut stock. Manufactured c. 1906-1914, this is one of the finest known examples of a Marlin Model 94 saddle ring “trapper’s” carbine with a 15
inch barrel. The top of the receiver on this example is factory marked for the Policia Fiscales of Chile which was formed as a national police force in 1896 and continued until they were merged into the Carabineros de Chile. These “trapper’s” carbines were not only valued by hunters and trappers as the name would imply, but also law enforcement, as this example shows, for their light and portable firepower. Regardless of who used them, these guns often lived hard working lives and are rarely found in high condition like this example. This specific carbine is listed by serial number by the ATF as exempt from the provisions of the NFA. The top of the barrel is marked with the standard two-line address and patent dates, as well as the caliber marking at the breech. The Marlin trademark and model designation are marked on the upper tang, and the serial number is marked on the bottom of the receiver. The desirable 15 inch barrel is fitted with a block blade front sight, folding ladder rear sight, and there is a saddle ring fitted on the left of the receiver. It is mounted with a smooth forearm and straight grip stock with a carbine buttplate. CONDITION: Very fine, retains 75% plus of the original blue finish and strong traces of the original case colors on the hammer and lever with the balance having thinned to mostly a smooth grey patina. The wood is excellent with a few scattered minor handling marks. Mechanically excellent. It would be difficult to find a higher condition Marlin Model 94 “trapper’s” carbine! Estimate: 10,000 - 16,000
