The Legacy Collection of
Brig & Louise
Pemberton
I consider myself extremely fortunate to have had the opportunity to spend
quality time with Mr. and Mrs. Pemberton at their beautiful estate overlooking
Penobscot Bay in Maine during the spring of 2015. It is a day in my career I
will never forget. Brig and Louise gave us an incredible tour of their property,
showcasing their various collections, followed by an epic tour of the guns and
gun room.
Before I go any further, I need to emphasize that the Pemberton Collection of Colt
Single Action Army revolvers is the finest group to ever come up for public sale.
Seeing that collection in its entirety was an absolute marvel. However, when we
left that day, Brig and Louise made ten times the impression on me than their
gun collection ever could; everything they did, they did with enormous passion.
They spent their early years exploring the Caribbean on a yacht, diving and
fishing, and their summers adventuring through mainland Europe and beyond,
calling places like Italy, Switzerland, and the south of France home. Brig and
Louise also dedicated an enormous amount of time together hunting for the
greatest Colt Single Actions on the planet.
A key point to emphasize is that when you flip through R.L. Wilson’s Colt
Engraving Vol. 1 & 2 and see the myriad of references to the Pemberton
Collection, it is Brig and Louise’s collection—they built it together. As I
mentioned earlier, what they created- is the finest collection, of the most iconic
American firearm, to ever come up for public sale and it was built in tandem by a
passionate, dedicated and generous couple.
It is an absolute privilege and honor to unveil the Brig & Louise
Pemberton Collection.
