German Walther Mod. P.38
Semi-Automatic Pistol with Shoulder
Holster and Sub-Caliber Conversion

inch round bbl., blue finish, composite
grips. Manufactured circa late 1944 to
early 1945, with a rough sequential
serial range of 24,184 to 25,811.
The late war production Mod. P.38
was essentially same as the prior
production Mod. HP pistols with
the exception of the designation
change on the slide from “Mod HP” to
“Mod P38”, likely made as a business decision to bolster
private Wehrmacht and commercial sales due to the
higher familiarity with the military P.38 designation. For
more information on these late World War II era production
Walther Mod. P.38 pistols, reference page 89 of Warren
Buxton’s “The P.38 Pistol: Volume One”. Features fixed blade
front and notch rear sights, Walther banner with two-line
address, patent, and caliber marking, along with the “Mod
P38” designation on the left side, along with “eagle/N” proofs on the right
side of the frame, slide, barrel, and locking block. Matching serial numbers on the right of the frame,
upper right of the slide, front of the barrel, and with a matching “370” partial under the locking block.
Fitted with a pair of ribbed Bakelite grips, marked “P/1529/5” under the left and “P/1528/5” under the
right, and an “eagle/359” proofed blued magazine with un-numbered base. Includes a shoulder holster
with extra magazine, a Walther banner wood-grain conversion kit box, with “PPK and “7.65” crossed out
and replaced with “9 m/m” and “P.38” in pen, a stainless rimfire barrel sleeve with blued compression
spring and brass connection nut, a brass rod, and six blued steel 9 mm Luger rimfire adapter cartridges
for a different pattern rimfire conversion system.
CONDITION: Excellent, retaining 90% plus original blue finish with minor edge wear, plum coloration
apparent on the frame and sides of the slide, some minor spotting/freckling, minor thinning on the
grip strap, and otherwise some minor handling marks. The grips are exceptionally fine with attractive
composite patterning. Mechanically excellent. The incomplete conversion kit is very fine.

Extremely Rare and Highly Collectible Serial
Number 5 Unmarked Estonian Contract Fabrique
Nationale Model 1935 High-Power Semi-Automatic Pistol - Serial no.
5, 9 mm Luger cal., 4 3/4 inch round bbl., blue finish, walnut grips. Manufactured
in Belgium in a separate serial number block from standard production. One of
approximately 5,458 FN M1935 High-Power pistols ordered by the Republic of Estonia
prior to the outbreak of World War II, with 120 delivered in 1936 for police forces and 5,338 delivered
in 1937 for the military and home guard. While the military and home guard issued pistols featured
“E.V.” and “K.L.” property marks on the backstraps, it is noted on page 279 of Anthony Vanderliden’s
book “FN Browning Pistols: Side-Arms that Shaped World History” that 100 pistols were issued to
the Estonian border patrol without any special markings. Features fixed blade front and second type
tangent rear sights, slotted backstrap, no lanyard loop provision, and with the standard FN address and
Browning patent mark on the left side of the slide. With “lion/PV” and “star/E” proofs on the left of the
frame, slide, and right of the Liege proofed barrel, along with “3” on the front right of the trigger guard. Matching “5” serial
numbers found on the right of the fame, slide, and on the left of the barrel. Fitted with a pair of checkered walnut grips
without red paint on the interiors. Estonian contract High-Power pistols are difficult to find in the U.S. collector’s market
today, let alone an unmarked low-digit example such as this, as most were stored at the arsenal in Tallinn and confiscated
by the Soviets during and after World War II.
CONDITION: Very fine, retaining 90% plus original blue finish with minor edge wear, a loose front sight base, some
thinning in and around the rear gripstrap stock slot showing mostly grey patina, and some minor handling marks. The left
grip panel is very fine, while the right grip panel is fine with a compression mark in the otherwise crisp checkering. Other
than the bulge in the center of the barrel, mechanically fine.
Provenance: The Estate Collection of Charles Wagner.
