“byf/44” Code P.38 Semi-Automatic
Pistol with Desirable “Two-Tone”
Finish and Holster - Serial no. 3660c,
9 mm Luger cal., 5 inch round bbl.,
blue/phosphate finish, plastic grips.
Manufactured in January 1945 as a part
of the “Second Alphabet Run: Second
Variation” production block, in which
Mauser introduced the use of a dull
grey phosphate finish along with blued
components as described on page 30
of “The P.38 Pistol: Volume II” by Warren
H. Buxton, with this example displaying
phosphate finish on all components
except the barrel. It is also noted on the
same page that the change occurred
somewhere in the “b” suffix serial
range. Features fixed blade front and notch rear
sights, “byf/44” code on the left of the slide with “eagle/swastika” and dual “eagle/WaA135” proofs on the
right, along with “eagle/WaA135” proofs on the frame, barrel, and locking block. Matching serial numbers
present on the slide, frame, barrel, and locking block. Fitted with a pair of ribbed black plastic grips
along with an “eagle/WaA135” proofed and “P.38v” marked blued magazine (with broken slide catch tab).
Includes a “0/0833/0007” numbered, “P38” marked, and “eagle/swastika” proofed black leather flap holster
and an extra “eagle/WaA108” proofed and “jvd” code blued magazine.
CONDITION: Excellent, retaining 90% plus original blue and phosphate finishes with some minor holster
pattern edge wear, plum coloration showing on the barrel, some discoloration on the firing pin cover,
and otherwise limited minor handling marks. The grips are also excellent with a few minor scrapes.
Mechanically excellent. The holster is very fine with supple leather.

World War II Mauser “S/42”
Code “1939” Date Luger
Semi-Automatic Pistol with
Two Matching Magazines, from the Jan Still Luger
Collection - Serial no. 3568z, 9 mm Luger cal., 4 inch round
bbl., blue finish, walnut grips. This is a an early World War II
Luger pistol that was manufactured by the Mauser factory in
1939, and is complete with its two original matching numbered
magazines. Features blade front and notch rear sights, “1939” dated chamber,
“S/42” Mauser code on the front toggle link, drooped wing “eagle/655” proofs
on the extension, barrel and both magazines, and “eagle” firing proofs on
the barrel, extension, and breech block. The rear toggle pin is numbered
“58” (likely a factory error) with otherwise matching visible serial numbers
including both of the accompanying magazines, with the interior of the
unnumbered grip panels both stamped with an “S/42” Mauser code and
drooped wing “eagle/154” proof. Import marked bottom of barrel. The lot is
also accompanied by a certificate
of authenticity from noted
author Jan C. Still’s family
verifying it is from his
personal collection.
CONDITION: Fine, retains
70% plus original blue finish with
holster edge wear, and grip strap wear with scattered
light surface freckling. Grips are very fine with some scattered light
handling marks concentrated on the left panel and otherwise
defined checkering. Mechanically excellent.

German DWM 29 Police Unit Marked
“Sneak” Luger Semi-Automatic Pistol
Rig with Matching Unit Marked Holster
and Two Matching Magazines, from the Jan Still
Luger Collection - Serial no. 3541t, 9 mm Luger cal.,
4 inch round bbl., blue/straw finish, walnut grips. This
“sneak” DWM 29 Police Luger is unmarked on top of the
chamber area and on top of the front toggle link, with
unit marking “L.M.5” on the front strap, which marks it as
the property of the Prussian State Police (Landjagerei).
It has a set of “crown/N” proofs on the barrel, upper
receiver and breech block and an “eagle/WaA66” proof
on the right side of the chamber, suggesting a pistol
reworked to police standards. A few other similar examples
of DWM 29 Police Lugers, in the same “t” serial block, are
pictured on pages 147-149 of Jan C. Still’s book
“Weimar and Early Nazi Lugers and
Their Accessories” in which the caption
on page 148 states, “Many 29 DWM
Lugers were procured by the Prussian
State Police, bear Prussian State
Landjagerei unit markings and sear and magazine
safeties introduced by Prussian State Police orders dated
August 30, 1933.” Page 31 of the aforementioned book also states, “Landjagerei grip strap
markings are mostly confined to the ‘t’ and ‘u’ range Lugers and were introduced by orders
dated Feb. 25, 1932.” Fixed sights, with a functional sear safety fitted to the receiver and
a disabled magazine well safety on the left side of the frame. Straw colored small parts,
niter blue pins and springs, checkered grips, and a nickel finished magazine numbered
to match on bottom along with a “1”. The grip panels are unnumbered/unmarked on the
interiors, with otherwise all matching visible serial numbers on components, including
both of the accompanying magazines, in the police style. Includes a Schambach & Co.
Berlin “1929” dated brown leather police holster marked with a sunburst and “L.M.5.”
Landjagerei unit marking to match the pistol, containing an extra blue finished magazine numbered to match on
bottom along with a “3” and a “+”, and a takedown tool marked “5.” The lot is also accompanied by a certificate of
authenticity from noted author Jan C. Still’s family verifying it is from his personal collection.
CONDITION: Excellent, retains 90% plus original blue finish, 70% original straw colors, with filed top of the front sight,
and some light holster related edge wear. Grips are also excellent with a few light handling marks and crisp checkering.
Mechanically excellent. Holster is fine.

Nationale Model 1935 High-Power Semi-
Automatic Pistol with Box - Serial no.
E04669, 9 mm Luger cal., 4 3/4 inch round
bbl., blue finish, walnut grips. Manufactured
in Belgium after World War II. Features fixed
serrated blade front and notch rear sights,
standard FN manufacturer’s marking and
Browning patent roll marked on the left of
the slide, and matching serial numbers on
the right side of the slide and frame, as well
as the left of the barrel. The barrel, slide and
frame also bear “lion/PV” and “star/L” Belgian
proofs, with “SILESIA” marked upside down on
left front of trigger guard indicating importation by German firearms distributor Silesia. Fitted with a pair of checkered
walnut grips with red painted interiors. Includes a correct FN box and extra magazine.
CONDITION: Excellent, retaining 98% plus original blue finish with some limited edge wear, slight plum coloration to
the frame and slide, and a few minor handling marks. The grips are also excellent with crisp checkering. Mechanically
excellent. The box is fine.
