dated chamber, DWM logo on the
replacement front toggle, Imperial
eagle and “crown/Gothic letter”
German military proofed. Post-World
War I era added police type sear safety.
Besides the non-matching replacement
toggle and breech block assembly
numbered “02”, the pistol has otherwise
all matching visible serial numbers
including the walnut base of the
magazine. Includes a “1940” dated “eagle/
WaA750” proof stamped brown leather
flap holster maker marked by C. Weiss of
Braunschweig, takedown tool and an extra
non-matching magazine.
CONDITION: Very fine, retains 80% arsenal blue
finish and 90% straw colors, with some holster edge wear, thinning on the grip straps with
scattered freckling, and defined markings and edges. Grips are very fine with a few light
handling marks, a wear spot visible on the rear of the right panel, and crisp checkering.
Mechanically excellent. Holster is very fine.

“Alphabet” Luger Semi-
Automatic Pistol with Matching
Magazine and Holster, from the
Jan Still Luger Collection - Serial no.
6206r, 9 mm Luger cal., 4 inch round
bbl., blue finish, walnut grips. This
is an example of a Weimar era DWM
“Alphabet” Luger that was manufactured
sometime between 1928-1933 in the “r”
serial block as originally factory made
utilizing some earlier surplus parts mixed
with some newly manufactured parts,
and issued to one of the various Weimar
units during this time frame. The top of
the chamber area is unmarked, with the
DWM logo on the front toggle, drooped
wing “eagle/33” and “TP” proofs marked
on the Simson manufactured barrel, eagle
firing proofs on the right side of the barrel
extension and barrel, a faint early “Crown/N”
commercial firing proof visible on the left of the
barrel extension beneath the overstamped factory
applied serial number, standard extractor and safety markings, “S” on the interior of the
left grip panel, an “eagle/6” Simson proof on the interior of the right grip panel, and a Schmeisser patent Haenel
magazine marked with the matching serial number on the base. Besides the correct type grips being unnumbered, all
visible serial numbered components are matching. Includes a leather flap holster stamped “1.E.2.” on the rear and “F/
AF.7.24” on the front. The lot is also accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity from noted author Jan C. Still’s family
verifying it is from his personal collection.
CONDITION: Exceptionally fine, retains 98% arsenal blue finish and 85% straw colors with some minor high edge wear.
Grips are excellent with a few light handling marks and crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. Holster is fine with
some light age related wear.

DWM “SAFE” and “LOADED” Marked Model 1923
Commercial Artillery Pattern Luger Semi-Automatic
Pistol - Serial no. 90696, 9 mm Luger cal., 7 7/8 inch round bbl.,
blue/straw finish, walnut grips. Manufactured prior to the end
of World War I, and subsequently reworked by DWM for post-war commercial
sales. Features fixed German silver tipped blade front and adjustable tangent rear
(graduated from 100 to 800 meters) sights, undated chamber, “DWM” monogram
on the toggle link, “crown/N” proofs on the left of the toggle link and extension, along
with “GERMANY” marked on front of the frame and right of the rear sight base. The upper
safety position is marked “SAFE”, with the extractor marked “LOADED”. Matching visible “96”
partial serial numbers on the takedown lever, trigger, side plate with the barrel, extension
breech block, and toggle assembly un-numbered. Fitted with a pair of unnumbered
checkered walnut grips and nickel plated magazine with “GERMANY” marked walnut base.
CONDITION: Very fine as professionally restored, retaining 95% plus blue and
90% straw colors with some limited high-point thinning, a safety drag line,
and otherwise limited
handling marks. The
replacement grips are
also exceptionally fine
with crisp checkering.
Mechanically excellent.

Mauser “G” Date,
“S/42” Code Luger
Semi-Automatic
Pistol with Holster
and Extra Magazine
- Serial no. 2940f, 9
mm cal., 4 inch round
bbl., blue finish, walnut
grips. Manufactured by
Mauser in 1935; while
the Germans were still
paying lip service to
the Treaty of Versailles,
1935 was the second
year of renewed Luger
production, as the Nazis
already had designs on
Lebensraum in Eastern
Europe and payback
against the French. Fixed
sights, with the “G” date mark
on the chamber, “S/42” on the
front toggle link, “eagle/63” on
the extension and barrel, and
“drop wing eagle” firing proofs on the
extension, barrel and breechblock. Straw colored
small parts, nitre blue springs, pins and screws, checkered grips and a blued magazine
with aluminum base. Both grips are numbered to match the pistol, with the inside of the right grip panel
marked “Sgt. Puterbaugh/HQ B”; the Sergeant has not been positively identified, though may have been the
GI to first capture this pistol in the field. With a 1937 dated Genschow & Co black leather flap holster, extra
magazine and takedown tool.
CONDITION: Very fine, with 85% plus original blue finish, showing bright edges, mild spotting concentrated
on the grip straps, and light handling marks overall. 60% of the bright original straw color is present on
the small parts, and 50% of the original niter blue. The grips are fine with flat spots, dents, and stains.
Mechanically excellent. The holster is good with mild scuffing and cracking.
