Griffin & Howe Built Model 98 Bolt Action Rifle with
Scope - Serial no. 1810, 257 Roberts cal., 22 inch round bbl.,
blue finish, walnut stock. Built in 1947 on an unmarked
Model 98 action which features a hooded ramped beaded
blade front sight, front sling stud, caliber marking at the
left of the chamber, and “No. 1810 GRIFFIN & HOWE INC. NEW YORK” signed on the top. The barrel is
fitted to the blued action which has a matted front ring, G&H scope mount holding a Lyman Alaskan 2 1/2x scope, receiver sight base (peep
absent), and unadorned bottom metal. The rifle is mounted in an attractively figured and multi-point checkered pistol grip stock with contrasting forend tip,
blued steel grip cap, blank inscription oval, rear sling stud, and a blued steel trapdoor buttplate.
CONDITION: Very fine as built by Griffin & Howe, retaining 98% blue finish, some thinning on the floorplate, a few tiny freckles of spotting, and sharp checkering
on the stock. Mechanically excellent. Scope
optics clear.

Engraved Griffin & Howe Built Model 1903 Bolt Action Target Rifle
with Scope - Serial no. 1565, 257 Roberts cal., 26 inch round bbl., blue finish, walnut stock. Built on an unmarked Model 1903
action and featuring a blued steel barrel with a ramped hooded blade front sight, front scope block, “No. 1565 GRIFFIN & HOWE INC. NEW
YORK” signed on the top, and “.257 ROBERTS” marked on the left of the chamber. The barrel is fitted to the blued action which retains the magazine
cut-off, matted front receiver ring, jeweled bolt, checkered bolt handle, and rear scope mount holding an Unertl 14x scope. The bottom metal is also
blued and engraved with a large stylized “G” flanked by scrollwork. The rifle is mounted in a nicely figured and multi-point checkered pistol grip stock
with contrasting forend tip, sling studs, shadowline cheekpiece, blank inscription oval, and a checkered steel buttplate.
CONDITION: Very fine as built by Griffin & Howe, retaining 97% blue finish with some high edge wear,
some light spotting/pitting on the bottom metal, some scratches and dings on the wood, stress line at
upper tang, and sharp checkering on the stock. Mechanically excellent. Scope optics clear.

Engraved Griffin & Howe Bolt Action Sporting Rifle in .318 Nitro Express with Scope - Serial no. 7720, 318 Express cal., 24 1/2 inch
round bbl., blue finish, walnut stock. Griffin & Howe is America’s oldest and most storied custom rifle builder with a history reaching back over 100 years. The
firm has built rifles for many famous Americans, most notably renowned authors and sportsmen Ernest Hemingway and Robert Ruark as well as President Dwight
Eisenhower whom all had sporting rifles built by the firm. The barrel is fitted with a blade front sight which stands atop a matted ramp and is simply marked “318
NITRO EXPRESS” on the left of the chamber. The Model 98 pattern action is adorned
with wavy line and string of pearls engraving with a spray of floral scroll off the matted
top of the receiver ring. The bottom metal and floorplate are adorned to match with
“GRIFFIN & HOWE/NEW YORK” on a pair of intersecting ribbons. The action is topped
with a Minox ZA 5 1.5-8x32mm scope. The barrel and action are mounted in a nicely
figured multipoint checkered walnut pistol grip stock with contrasting forend and
pistol grip caps, shadowline cheekpiece, and Pachmayr solid red recoil pad.
CONDITION: Excellent, retaining 99% plus original blue finish with limited handling
marks and crisp engraving. Wood is very fine with some light dings and scratches and
crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.
