LOT 1015
Excellent and Attractive Winchester Model 1894 Lever
Action Takedown Rifle - Serial no. 265162, 30 WCF cal., 26
inch octagon bbl., blue finish, walnut stock. Manufactured in
1905, this is an exceptionally fine example of a Winchester
Model 1894 takedown rifle. The rifle was likely special ordered
as a takedown considering the special order express sights
that appear to be factory original and the wood that is slightly
higher than standard grade, a common complimentary upgrade
from Winchester for rifles with minor special order features. The
top barrel flat is marked with the standard two-line address and
patent dates, as well as the caliber marking at the breech. The
upper tang is marked with the three-line model and trademark
information and the serial number is on the bottom of the
receiver. It is fitted with a Lyman beaded blade front sight and
a three-leaf “express” notch rear sight with platinum inlaid
centerlines. It is mounted with a nicely figured smooth forearm
and straight grip stock with a crescent buttplate.
