London Double Action Percussion
Revolver - Serial no. 1491, 80 bore cal.,
5 3/8 inch flat top round bbl., blue/
casehardened finish, walnut grips.
Manufactured c. 1860s. “GEORGE. H. DAW.

No 1491” inscribed on the top of the
barrel, and “PATENT NO 1491” inscribed
on the right of the frame. Features open
border and floral scroll high quality
engraving on the barrel, frame, backstrap
and butt cap, a casehardened loading
lever, five-shot casehardened cylinder
with London “crown/V” proofs, hammer
with flash shield, checkered walnut grip,
and a lanyard ring on the butt. Includes
a green baize lined and partitioned oak
case with an original George H. Daw
trade label inside lid, period bullet mold marked “No/90” on the sprue cutter, C
& J.W. Hawksley powder flask, ram rod, oiler, some lead rounds, one extra
percussion nipple, and a Joyce cap container.
CONDITION: Exceptionally fine, retains 85% plus bright
original high polish blue finish with a few areas of flaking visible,
50% muted original case colors on the cylinder with vivid original case
colors showing on the rear of the loading lever, backstrap
and butt, 75% plus original niter blue finish on the
trigger and hammer, and sharp engraving overall. Grip
is excellent with crisp checkering and minimal handling
evidence. Mechanically excellent. Case is very good with
some scattered light scratches and a few minor cracks
on top of the lid.

Exceptional Panel Scene Engraved
Pinfire Double Action Revolver
with Boxes of Cartridges - NSN, 9 mm
Pinfire cal., 4 7/8 inch octagon bbl., bright/
blue finish, gutta percha grips. This revolver
is similar to the Lefaucheux Model 1858 and
was finished mainly in bright metal and has a triangular front sight,
hammer groove rear sight, Liege proofs, foliate scroll pattern grips, a
lanyard ring on the butt, and floral and game scene engraving. “23”
is marked on the right
side at the heel, back of
the right grip, back of
the cylinder, and back of
the barrel lug, and “78”
is marked on the right
side of the front strap. It
is accompanied by four
25 round boxes of 9 mm
pinfire ammunition and
a small bag of loose ammunition.
CONDITION: Exceptionally fine with most of the niter blue finish
remaining on the front sight, hammer, and trigger; mostly crisp
original bright metal throughout, some light oxidation and
patination, crisp engraving, and minor overall wear. Mechanically
excellent. The ammunition is generally fine with some oxidation of
the lead and mild storage wear on the cartridges and box.

Very Scarce Mauser Model 1878 Zig-Zag Single Action Revolving Carbine - NSN, 11 mm cal.,
17 3/4 inch solid rib bbl., blue finish, walnut stock. This very scarce revolving carbine is based on
the same mechanism as the 1878 “Zig Zag” revolver, with a reciprocating bar
connected to the hammer engaging the namesake track on the exterior of
the cylinder to advance and index the chambers. Blade front and two-leaf rear sights on the “GEBR.
MAUSER & CIE OBERNDORF A/N. WURTTEMBERG 1878.PATENT” marked solid rib, casehardened hammer,
niter blue cylinder and controls, sling swivels, and a checkered straight wrist stock with a low profile right handed
cheekrest and a flat steel buttplate. In contrast to the
revolver, the carbine is hinged at the front, with
a combination of a spring loaded mechanism on
the underside of the barrel and a latch on top of the frame
securing the barrel, with an automatic cartridge extractor. No
serial number is present, but an assembly number “8” is present
on multiple small components and the top of the frame.
CONDITION: Very fine, with 95% plus professionally restored blue
finish, showing some light edge wear, spotting and handling marks. 90% plus
bright niter blue is present on the small parts, with a few areas of gray patina, with the
casehardened pattern silvered out but present on the hammer. The restored stock shows
a few light scratches and dings, and is also very fine overall with crisp recut checkering and attractive grain. Mechanically excellent.
