World War II “fxo” Code STG44 Sturmgewehr Rifle,
Class III/NFA C&R Fully Transferable Machine
Gun - Serial no. 9542y/45, 7.92 x 33mm Kurz cal., 16
1/2 inch round bbl., blue/phosphate finish, laminate
stock. Manufactured in 1945, the StG44 was a
refinement of the MP43/MP44 line of intermediate
caliber, selective fire infantry rifles, dropping the
pretense of being a “machine pistol” and receiving
the distinctive “Sturmgewehr” (literally: assault
rifle) name, physically and linguistically defining
an entire genre of weapons that would grow to
become the de-facto standard for the 20th and
21st centuries. Blade front and tangent rear sights,
with the serial number and model marking on
the left side of the receiver, “fxo” on the underside
ahead of the magazine well, and “WaA21” (double
stamped) on the side of the trigger housing.
Replacement mismatched bolt and gas piston
assembly. Fitted with a metal handguard, ribbed
hardwood grip panels, and laminate buttstock.
Magazine absent.
CONDITION: Very fine, with 85% of the combination blue/
phosphate finish, showing areas of spotting, scuffs and handling
marks overall, with a mixed gray and brown patina on the trigger
housing. The barrel retention pin is a later replacement, and the
barrel may be a replacement as well. The grips show some sanding
and scuffs, and the buttstock shows a few scratches and dings.
Mechanically excellent. NOTE: This weapon is a National Firearms
Act (NFA), fully transferable Class 3, which is registered with the
Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, (BATFE) that is classified as a “Curios or Relic” as defined in 27
CFR, 478.11. These weapons are still subject to the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 479.
Estimate: 22,500 - 35,000
