Factory Engraved Winchester Model 21 Double
Barrel Skeet Shotgun with Factory Letter - Serial no.
27984, 12 gauge, 28 inch vent rib bbl., blue finish, walnut stock. Blued Winchester
Proof Steel barrels with dual white bead sights on the matted, vent rib which is
marked “CUSTOM BUILT BY WINCHESTER FOR WM. E. HARBOTTLE”, standard proofs on the flats, chokes marked
“WS-1”/”WS-2”, and 2 3/4 inch chambers with ejectors. The action
displays #4 pattern engraving consisting of floral scrollwork with
borders and two simple bands at either breech. The gun features a gold plated single selective trigger and tang mounted manual
safety with gold inlaid “SAFE”. Beautiful, fancy figured, multi-point checkered beavertail forend with engraved fittings, rotary latch
release, and ebony tip inlay and pistol grip stock with blued steel grip cap, gold inscription oval mark “W.E.H.”, and Winchester red
rubber recoil pad. The included factory letter confirms the current gauge, barrel length, chokes, chambers, vent rib, stock type, safety
type, gold oval initials, and stock dimensions when the gun was completed for Mr. William E. Harbottle on August 18, 1966. While the
William E. Harbottle that ordered this gun cannot be positively identified, William E. Harbottle Jr. and William E. Harbottle III of Dayton, Ohio
are likely candidates. Harbottle Jr. was the president of Miami-Jacobs Junior College at the time this gun was built. Barrel and stock measurements
(R/L): bore diameter nine inches from the breech .729/.729 inches; choke constriction .004/.003 inches; minimum wall thickness .026/.028 inches; 1
3/8 inch drop at comb; 1 3/4 inch drop at heel; 14 1/16 inch length of pull; weight 7 lbs. 11 oz.
CONDITION: Excellent as engraved and refurbished, retaining 99% blue finish with only minor handling evidence. The wood is very fine with a few scattered minor marks and sharp checkering. Mechanically
excellent.

Winchester Deluxe Model 42
Slide Action Shotgun with Box - Serial no. 122377, 410
gauge, 28 inch vent rib bbl., blue finish, highly figured
walnut stock. Receiver manufactured in 1956. Red bead
front and steel bead mid sights on a vent rib, 3 inch
chambers, “SKEET” marked choke, Winchester “WP” proofs
on barrel and receiver at the breech, scroll engraved
receiver and “DELUXE” marked on the underside of the frame. Matching serial numbers on the
receiver and takedown collar. Nicely figured select walnut, fleur-de-lis checkered extension
forearm and pistol grip stock with checkered Winchester buttplate. Comes with a “SPECIAL/Deluxe” and “SELECT WOOD”
ink stamped hanging tag, reproduction box with end label noting “SPECIAL/Deluxe”, “B-Carving,” engraving, skeet choke,
“SELECT WOOD” and serial number and instructions.
CONDITION: Exceptionally fine overall as upgraded to current
configuration with 99% factory quality blue finish remaining with
limited handling evidence and crisp forearm/stock checkering.
The box is fine with some minor wear.
