Factory Engraved National
Arms Co. Front Loading ‘Improved
National Revolver’ with Very Scarce Picture
Box - Serial no. 28239, 32 teat-fire cal., 3 1/4
inch round bbl., nickel/silver finish, rosewood grips. Manufactured
c. 1864-1870, these revolvers and their ammunition were designed
by Daniel Moore and David Williamson as a work around for the
Rollin White patent held by Smith & Wesson that prevented other
companies from legally manufacturing revolvers with bored through
cylinders. The barrel has a rounded blade front sight, “NATIONAL
ARMS Co BROOKLYN.N.Y” on top, with burst pattern engraving at the
breech. The frame has flourishes of floral scroll on both sides and at the top of the back strap. The cylinder also has the Williamson patent marking. The left side of the
grip frame has “JF39”, which is repeated in pencil inside both grip panels. It comes with a green box with a blue label on the lid with an image of the revolver and marked for the National
Arms Company’s “Improved National Revolver”.
CONDITION: Very fine, retains 97% plus of the original nickel finish on the barrel and the cylinder, traces of nitre blue on the ejector lever, and the brass showing an attractively aged patina
with crisp engraving overall. The grips are very good with a repaired crack in the right panel and mild wear. Mechanically excellent. The box is fine with mild handling/storage wear.

Excellent and Scarce Merwin, Hulbert & Co. Medium Frame Spur Trigger Single Action Revolver with Pearl Grips -
Serial no. 6080, 38 CF cal., 5 1/2 inch solid rib bbl., nickel finish, pearl grips. Only a few thousand were manufactured from the
late 1870s to 1880s. The revolver has an enclosed cylinder pin, scooped cylinder flutes, downward sliding loading gate, and
bird’s head butt. The barrel rib has the Hopkins & Allen two-line legend, and the frame has the two-line MH&Co. address and
“38 CAL.” Matching serial number appear on the grip frame, barrel, and cylinder.
CONDITION: Excellent, retaining 95% plus original nickel plating with some loss on the back strap and some scattered light
flaking. The grips are also excellent with highly attractive fiery colors. Mechanically excellent.

New York Engraved Smith & Wesson Number 1 1/2 2nd Issue Revolver - Serial no. 109587, 32 RF cal., 3 1/2 inch solid rig bbl., nickel/gold finish,
antique ivory grips. This model was manufactured in 1868-75 with this example having a period New York engraving. The engraving consist mostly of floral
scrollwork on punch dot background along with dot and checkerboard panels on the sides of the barrel, zig-zag lines and star bursts on the sides of the
barrel lug, and dots and entwining lines around the hammer and down the back strap. The barrel and frame are nickel plated, and the remaining surfaces
are plated in gold. Both grip panels are numbered to the gun. Matching assembly marks appear on the grip frame, barrel, and cylinder.
CONDITION: Very fine, retaining 95% plus original nickel and 80% period replated gold with smooth dark patina on the balance. The engraving is crisp. The
grips are also very fine with typical age lines, some handling marks, and attractive color. Mechanically excellent.
