William Lloyd Snyder County Percussion American Long Rifle - NSN, 40 cal., 41 inch octagon bbl., brown/brass/German silver finish,
maple stock. The lightly swamped octagonal barrel is stamped “WM. LLOYD” at the breech. William Lloyd appears to have been a gunmaker in
Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania, before moving westward. The Kentucky Rifle Foundation lists him as located in “Uniontown, Fayette County
(1846-48) South Union Township, Fayette County (1851-54) Logan and Kennedy (hardware dealers) Pittsburgh, Allegheny County (1831-47)”. The rifle is mounted with brass and German silver and has a
distinctive four-piece Huntingdon County style brass engraved patchbox with German silver sideplates. It is equipped with an “I & B” marked lock and double set triggers.
CONDITION: Very good with dark brown patina on the barrel, silver-gray patina on the lock, moderate flash pitting, chipped hammer, attractively aged patina on the brass and German silver, cracked toe, and general
mild overall wear including some scrapes and dings on the wood. Mechanically fine (set trigger first).

Engraved and Incised Huntingdon County Percussion American Long Rifle Signed “SG” for Samuel Gehrett - NSN, 38 cal., 42
inch octagon bbl., brown finish, curly maple stock. Samuel Gehrett (1789-1854) worked as a gunmaker in Haines Township, Centre County, later in Union
Township, Huntingdon County, and finally in Plum Creek Township, Armstrong County, Pennsylvania. The rifle is signed “SG” on the barrel and handmade lock
and features double set triggers, engraved brass mounts, German silver “JS” inscribed wrist escutcheon and hunter’s star on the cheekpiece, incised carved
curly maple stock. and lightly striped ramrod.
CONDITION: Very good with gray and brown patina, mild pitting at the breech, attractively aged patina on the brass mounts, repair on the right side of
the forend ahead of the lock, minor cracks and chips, and general mild overall wear. Mechanically fine (set trigger first).

German Silver Mounted Peter & David Moll Percussion American Long Rifle
- NSN, 50 cal., 44 3/8 inch octagon bbl., brown/casehardened/German silver finish, maple
stock. Peter and David Moll of Hellertown, Northampton County, Pennsylvania, in the Lehigh Valley
were notable 19th century American pistol and rifle makers until 1853. The swamped octagonal barrel has blade
and notch sights, a brass inlaid panel on top inscribed “P. &. D. Moll. Hellertown. Penna” brass inlaid panels with wavy
line patterns on the upper left and right, and a pair of German silver inlaid bands at the breech. The lock is marked “R.
KINGSLAND & Co/WARRANTED” and has floral engraving. The rifle is equipped with
adjustable double set triggers and has German silver mounts.
CONDITION: Very good. The barrel has dark artificial brown patina, mild pitting, aged
patina on the brass inlays, and distinct engraving and signature. The lock has gray
and brown patina. The German silver mounts and inlays are bright and appear newer
than the barrel and lock. The restored stock has repairs, splices, and cracks, including
a break through the breech section. Some added length at the latter section leaves a gap at the
nose of the lock and the forend extending slightly past the muzzle. The lock and triggers function separately but need some
fit adjustments.

Ornate German Silver Inlaid and Engraved
Huntingdon County Percussion American Long Rifle by J.
Douglass - NSN, 42 cal., 40 3/4 inch octagon bbl., brown/German silver/
brass finish, maple stock. Joseph Douglass Sr. (1784-1841) and his son Joseph Douglass Jr. (1819-1882) both
worked in Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania and produced beautiful rifles in the region’s stile. The lightly swamped
octagonal rifled barrel is signed “J. DouglaSs” followed by “No 43” or possibly “No 45” and has scroll engraving flaking the
dovetailed blade and notch sights. The lock has floral engraving. The rifle is equipped with adjustable double set triggers and
has brass mounts and German silver inlays with floral, scroll, and wavy line engraving. The cheekpiece inlay has a spread wing eagle.
CONDITION: Good with a mix of artificial dark brown patina and applied finish on the lock and barrel, aged patina on the brass and German silver,
and general mild overall wear. The refinished stock has a spliced forend and mild wear. Mechanically fine (set trigger first).
