Highly Desirable Documented
U.S. Rock Island Arsenal M15 General Officers
Semi-Automatic Pistol Serial Number GO41 - Serial
no. GO41, 45 ACP cal., 4 1/2 inch round bbl., blue finish, walnut grips. This is an
exceptional example of a U.S. Army M15 General Officer pistol which was issued in
1972 as documented on p. 146 of “The Colt General Officers’ Pistol” by Greeley. The
M15 pistols were manufactured solely by Rock Island Arsenal starting in the early 1970s
through approximately 1985 when the US Army adopted the Beretta M9 pistol. These
pistols were fabricated by using a standard M1911A1 pistol, milling off old markings and
then applying the new markings and shortening the slide and barrel assembly to 4 1/2
inches, installing a high profile front and rear sight, serrated mainspring housing, and
the National Match style checkered front grip strap. The left side of the slide is marked
with “General Officer Model/RIA”, and “Serial No. GO 41” is on the right side of the frame above the grips. The grips
are checkered walnut, and the right side has a cast Rock Island Arsenal ordnance emblem, while the left grip panel
is inlaid with a blank silver name plate. The pistol has a highly polished blue finish on most the parts, the barrel is
chrome plated, and it is furnished with a full blue magazine.
CONDITION: Very fine, retains 97% plus of the Rock Island Arsenal blue finish with some very faint edge wear, a
small patch of light pitting on the right of the frame, and a few speckled spots. The grips are excellent with only the
slightest handling marks and crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. A highly desirable U.S. officers pistol that
would fill a hole in many U.S. military collections!
Estimate: 5,500 - 8,500
LOT 3360
Exceedingly Rare SIG Sauer M18 General Officer’s Semi-Automatic Pistol with Box and
Extra Grip Modules - Serial no. GO5038, 9 mm para cal., 3 3/4 inch round bbl., Coyote Tan finish,
polymer grips. In 2017, SIG Sauer won the U.S. Military MHS trials. These trials sought to find a
replacement for the aging stock of M9 pistols. SIG’s answer was the M17 and M18 Pistols. The
M18 is a variant of the P320 series of modular pistols which make use of a serialized “frame” inside
of a grip module. The use of this system allows for the pistol to be fit to any shooter’s hand. This
specific pistol is the General Officer’s model, the rarest variation of the M18, which rarely sees the
light of day in the civilian market. The United States Armed Forces have a long standing tradition of
presenting a special sidearm to members who reach the rank of Brigadier General. The distinction on
the M18 General Officer’s model is the “GO” for General Officer serial number prefix. This pistol has the standard features of
the standard M18 which finds itself in the holsters of the Marines, Air Force, and Navy, as well as having the aforementioned
special serial number (GO5038). Included with the pistol is a small and large grip module, extra magazine, shipping box, and
U.S Military manual.
CONDITION: Excellent, near new in box, as issued to a United States Armed Forces General Officer, retaining 99% plus
original Coyote Tan finish on the slide with limited handing marks, and some minor wear marks on the chamber. Grip
modules are also excellent with limited handling marks and crisp grip texture. Mechanically excellent. This is possibly once-
in-a-lifetime opportunity to own a SIG Sauer M18 General Officer’s pistol!
