Barrel Shotgun Three Barrel Set with Case - Serial
no. 1874, 12 gauge, 29 5/8 inch solid rib bbl.,
blue/coin finish, walnut stock. This gun was
made with blued steel chopperlump barrels
featuring a single bead sight on the smooth
concave solid rib which is marked at the
base with a gold “1” and a flourish of scroll
engraving, “PERUGINI & VISINI” and “NUVOLERA
BRESCIA” signed on the left and right
respectively, 1991 date Italian proof marks,
import mark on flats, and 2 3/4 inch chambers
with automatic ejectors. The barrels are fitted
to the gorgeous coin finished sidelock action
which displays exceptionally well-executed floral scroll engraving
over a blackened background and surrounding a
“PERUGINI & VISINI” banner on the underside, gold
washed pins, and three beautifully cut game scenes.
The left lockplate displays a pair of mallards coming
in to land on a pond, the underside has a mallard and
hen on a pond, and the right has a pair of pintails
taking flight from the water, all cut in magnificent
detail. The engraving is signed “M.GOBBI” on the
triggerplate to the right of the trigger for highly
regarded Italian Master Engraver Maximo Gobbi. The
gun features double gold triggers with articulated
front, right hand rolled triggerguard, and a tang
mounted manual safety. The gun is fitted with
a beautiful highly figured and multi-point checkered beavertail forend with engraved fittings and a pistol grip stock with
teardrop carved drop points, right hand palm swell, and rubber recoil pad. Included are two extra matching numbered barrel
sets numbered “206” and “207” and measuring 28 5/8 inches and 26 5/8 inches and a gold “2” and “3” at the base of the rib
respectively. Also includes a wood and canvas takedown case with a pair of snap
caps. Barrel measurements for set “2” (R/L): bore diameter nine inches from the
breech both proofed and measured at 18.4mm (.724 inches); choke constriction
.018/.037 inches; minimum wall thickness .038/.037 inches. Barrel
measurements for set “3” (R/L): bore diameter nine inches from
the breech proofed at 18.6/18.5mm (.732/.728 inches);
choke constriction .018/.025 inches; minimum
wall thickness .030/.031 inches. Barrel and stock
measurements (R/L): bore diameter nine inches
from the breech both proofed and measured at
18.3mm (.720 inches); choke constriction .027/.034
inches; minimum wall thickness .041/.043 inches;
1 9/16 inch drop at comb; 2 5/16 inch drop at heel;
14 13/16 inch length of pull; weight 7 lbs. 11 oz.
CONDITION: Excellent overall, retaining 99%
original blue, coin, and gold finishes with minimal
handling evidence and sharp checkering on the
stock and forend. The case is very fine and the extra
barrel sets are excellent. Mechanically excellent. This
is a great chance to own a true piece of firearms art!
