Outstanding Remington Model 6 Single Shot Rolling Block
Takedown “Boys” Rifle with Original Box - Serial no. 457160, 32 RF cal., 20 1/8
inch round bbl., blue/casehardened finish, walnut stock. Manufactured in July of
1928, with “OW” date code on the bottom of the original barrel. Approximately 498,000 Remington
Model 6 single shot rolling block rifles were manufactured between 1901-1933, often referred to as a “boys”
rifle, as these were marketed to the youth of the day. This is an outstanding example with an accompanying original box. A high
condition example such as this is considered extremely difficult to come by, as many of these were well used. Features a knurled takedown knob located on
the bottom of the frame, dovetailed pinched beaded blade front sight and adjustable rear sight, and a plain walnut forearm and straight grip stock with steel buttplate bearing
a circled Remington-UMC logo. Remington trademark and caliber marking “32 SHORT OR LONG R.F.” located on the breech area of the barrel, with the model, serial number, and two
line Remington Arms Co. address on the left side of the frame. Matching serial number “457160” marked on the bottom of the barrel ahead of the mentioned date code. Includes an
unnumbered original red factory box with end label on the lid that lists a .32 caliber rifle with 20 inch barrel, some old ink pen writing at the left edge of the end label, and the interior of
the lid has a label that reads “Instructions for No. 6 Remington Rifle”.
CONDITION: Excellent plus, near new in the box, retains 99% plus original blue finish on the barrel with some minor edge wear at the muzzle, 99% original blue
finish on the trigger, 99% vivid original case colors on the frame and breech block with a slightly darkened appearance on the hammer, and 95% original blue finish
on the buttplate. Wood is also excellent with a few minor storage related handling marks, and absolutely distinct edges. Mechanically excellent. Box is very fine with
some light edge wear and an absent section at the lower left corner of the interior lid label. This outstanding example of the iconic Remington Model 6 “boys” rifle
would make a fine addition to any American firearms collection!

Attractive Massachusetts Arms Co. First Model Maynard Patent
Percussion Sporting Carbine Two Barrel Set with Presentation Case
- Serial no. 1814, 35 cal., 20 1/4 inch part round bbl., blue/casehardened finish, walnut
stock. This cased First Model Maynard was likely made for presentation or purchased by an important
individual. Approximately 5,000 First Model Maynard carbines were manufactured c. 1858-1859, according to
“Flayderman’s Guide” (9th Edition, 9B-073). Multiple Confederate states are known to have had contracts for Maynard rifles and
carbines in both .35 and .50 caliber including Mississippi, Florida, and Georgia. For example, in early 1861, Jefferson Davis and J. Thompson
entered into agreements for Maynard arms and ammunition that included 325 carbines and 175 rifles in .50 caliber and 300 carbines in .35
caliber along with one thousand rounds of ammunition for each gun. It has the standard three-line Massachusetts Arms Co. address on the
right of the frame, while the left is marked with the two-line Maynard Arms Co. marking. The three-line Maynard patent marking
is on the patchbox lid, and there is a label with the eight-line Maynard patent dates inside the patchbox. The currently fitted 20
1/4 inch rifled .35 Maynard barrel is unnumbered. The second included 26 inch smooth bore 28 gauge/.55 caliber shot barrel has
the full matching serial number “1814” marked on the bottom, with serial number “1814” marked on the interior of the Maynard
primer door of the gun. Fitted with a blade front sight on both barrels, and a ladder peep sight mounted on the upper tang. The
stock is very finely figured and has a first model iron patchbox and buttplate. Includes a hardwood case with a fitted felt lined interior for the rifle and
both barrels when disassembled, as well as various accessories including a powder flask, Maynard .35 caliber bullet mold, oiler, screwdriver, cleaning tools,
leather shot bag containing lead shot, reloading tools, and some Maynard cartridges/casings.
CONDITION: Fine, retains 85% plus original blue finish with some slight thinning, 50% plus original case colors, scattered minor surface freckling, with crisp markings and edges in
the metal. Stock is very fine with attractive grain, some scattered light scratches and dings, and defined edges. Mechanically fine. Extra smooth bore barrel is fine, retains 80% original
blue finish with some areas of thinning, and some patches of minor pitting at both ends. Case is very good with some cracks and scratches, and aging on the felt lined interior.

Massachusetts Arms Co. Maynard Model 1882 No. 16 Improved Single Shot Centerfire Target Rifle with Reloading Accessories - Serial no. 9975, 32-40
WCF cal., 28 inch part octagon bbl., blue/casehardened/nickel finish, walnut stock. This Maynard No. 16 Improved Target rifle was manufactured sometime in the mid to
late 1880s by the Massachusetts Arms Company. These rifles were well regarded by competition shooters. Features a dovetailed globe front sight, tang mounted ladder
peep sight, with remnants of the Maynard patent markings and “1873” on the left of the frame, remnants of the Mass Arms
Co. address above “1882” on the right, serial number “9975” marked on the lower tang, unnumbered barrel assembly with
a glossy varnished checkered walnut forearm, glossy varnished smooth walnut buttstock with checkered pistol grip, and a
schuetzen type nickel plated brass buttplate. Includes a metal box containing a bullet mold, various reloading tools, .32-40
shell casings, bullets and three .32-40 U.M.C. cartridges.
CONDITION: Very good, retains traces of blue finish in protected areas of the barrel showing mostly mottled brown patina,
patterns of the muted case colors with smooth brown and gray patina on the balance, and 95% nickel finish on the
buttplate. Wood is also very good with numerous scattered dents and scratches, and some light wear at the sides of the
pistol grip checkering. Modern replacement peep on the tang sight. Modified bent area of the lever. Mechanically excellent.
