New York Engraved, Gold and Silver Plated
Smith & Wesson .38 Safety Hammerless Third
Model Double Action Revolver with Pearl Grips and
Factory Letter - Serial no. 85593, 38 S&W cal., 3 1/4 inch
solid rib bbl., gold/silver finish, pearl grips. The accompanying
factory states the revolver was shipped to Hartley & Graham
of New York City on June 24, 1893. The profuse engraving with
gold and silver plating were commissioned by the New York retailer and
features a floral scroll engraving on a punch dot background. Fitted with
S&W medallion pearl grips. Matching serial numbers on the
butt, barrel and cylinder.
CONDITION: Very fine as period New York engraved by Hartley & Graham.
The barrel and frame retain 95% of the silver plating with general loss
mostly on the grip straps. 60% of the gold plating remains on the cylinder
and trigger guard. The engraving is crisp. The pearl grips are excellent with limited handing
marks and highly attractive fiery colors. Mechanically excellent.

Smith & Wesson “Model of 1891” .38 Single
Action Third Model Revolver with Box -
Serial no. 2747, 38 S&W cal., 4 inch solid rib bbl.,
blue finish, hard rubber grips. Also known as the Model of 1891,
with production from 1891 to 1911. Fitted with blade front and
standing notch rear sights. The two line, two block address and
patent marks are present on the barrel rib, bisected with “MODEL
of 91”. Matching serial numbers are found on the butt, barrel, cylinder,
and right grip panel. The barrel has the additional number “13615”, which is also marked on
the barrel latch. The left grip is hand marked “A.G.” on the interior. Includes a correct model and
configuration S&W green box numbered to another gun.
CONDITION: Fine, retaining 75% original blue finish with a mostly brown patina on the balance, some light
pitting on the barrel, and a cylinder drag line. Grips are fine as well with scuffing at the lower left of the left panel
and overall slightly softened checkering. Mechanically excellent. Box is also fine.

grips. Manufactured in 1876/1877. The barrel is fitted with fixed blade and notch sights and two-line marking
on the rib. The revolver has matching serial numbers on the barrel, barrel latch, cylinder, butt, and right grip.
Included is an unnumbered correct model factory box.
CONDITION: Very fine overall, retaining 85% plus original nickel finish, scattered specks of oxidation, light
handling evidence, a cylinder drag line, some discoloration on the crisply checkered grips. Mechanically
excellent. The box is very good with some wear and light tearing of the label.

Model “Bicycle” Revolver with Rare Documented
2 Inch Barrel, Box, and Factory Letter - Serial no.
86031, 32 S&W cal., 2 inch solid rib bbl., nickel/blue finish, hard rubber grips. This example was built with the rare
2 inch barrel, the configuration referred to as a “Bicycle Gun” by the collecting fraternity. The barrel features fixed
sights and is correctly stamped with the two-line address/patent dates marking on the left side with no caliber
marking. The frame shows the Smith & Wesson logo on the right side opposite the sideplate. The revolver has
matching serial numbers are on the butt, cylinder, barrel, and left grip panel (hand marked). The included factory
letter confirms the current configuration and states that the gun was shipped from the Stockbridge Street factory
on November 11, 1898, and delivered to Hartley & Graham of New York, New York. The letter also states “This was
one of the first 2-inch models shipped”. Includes the original factory box.
CONDITION: Excellent, retaining 90% plus original nickel finish with some light flaking on the front of the
cylinder, 95% original blue on the triggerguard with minor spotting, light handling evidence, and a cylinder
drag line. The left grip has turned brown; otherwise, the grips are very fine with crisp checkering. Mechanically
excellent. The box is very good with edge wear and tearing.
