Dornaus & Dixon Ent.
Inc. Bren Ten Special
Forces Light Semi-Automatic Pistol - Serial
no. 84SFL0399, 10 mm auto cal., 4 1/8 inch round
bbl., hard chrome plate/stainless finish, plastic grips.
Manufactured c. 1984, the ‘Special Forces’ version of
the Dornaus & Dixon Enterprises Inc. Bren Ten semi-
automatic pistol was a part of a limited production run
with a shorter 4 inch barrel and appropriately shortened
slide. There was also a sub-configuration of this limited
run called the ‘Special Forces Light’ that features a hard
chrome plated slide, with an estimated production
total of just 75 to include this example. While the use of a chromed slide
Bren Ten by Don Johnson in Miami Vice is what put the Bren Ten on the
map, most examples of chromed slides are the result of custom work,
with the Special Forces Light being the only known version to leave the
factory with this desirable feature. Features fixed white-dot blade front
and adjustable white-dot notch rear sights, hard chrome plated slide, slide
catch, and thumb safety, a “S” and “F” marked push-button safety in the
slide under the rear sight, along with a polished finish on the sides of the
frame contrasted with a matte finish on the ventral lines. The left of the
slide is marked with “BREN TEN” and “SPECIAL FORCES”, with the caliber
and repeated model marking on the right side. The frame bears the serial
number and “Jeff Cooper Raven” on the left side, with the Dornaus & Dixon
Ent. inc. address and “PAT. PEND.” marked on the right. Fitted with a pair of
textured black polymer grips with the distinct “circled hourglass” Bren Ten
logos.
CONDITION: Excellent plus, with bright and matte finish on the frame along
with 99% original hard chrome plating retained on the slide, slide catch,
and thumb safety, with some limited minor cycling wear and handling
evidence. The grips are also excellent with limited minor handling marks.
Mechanically excellent.
Estimate: 10,000 - 18,000
