retains 97% bright original
nickel plated finish with some
minor flaking at the muzzle, and
80% original niter blue finish on
the small parts. Grips are very
fine, with a few minor handling
marks, and crisp checkering.
Half cock notch does not
engage; otherwise, mechanically
functions. Texas shipped Colt
Model 1878 revolvers rarely
surface for public sale, and this is
an excellent example!

Attractive and Desirable Framed Colt’s Patent Fire Arms Mfg. Co. “Patches”
Advertising Print - Produced in the mid to late 1920’s, from an oil painting “Tex and
His Horse, Patches” by Frank Schoonover, which depicts a western lawman on his horse,
Colt Single Action Army revolver with ornate grip visible on his hip, amid desert scenery.
“Frank E. Schoonover” signature and the date “’25” partially visible in lower right corner,
with “Colt’s Patent Fire Arms Manufacturing Co./Hartford, Connecticut, U.S.A.” markings in
the lower middle. Mounted in a wooden frame measuring 38 inches x 24 3/4 inches.
CONDITION: Fine, the print itself showing distinct imagery and vibrant colors with a
few scattered fold creases and small tears. The professional frame is excellent with an
attractive antiqued finish and only the slightest handling/storage marks. A fantastic
advertising piece to enhance the display of your Colt collection!

minor surface freckling, and defined
markings and edges in the metal. Grips
are very fine, with highly attractive
natural grain, a nick and a small chip at
the bottom rear of the right panel, and
defined edges. Mechanically excellent.

Army Revolver" by Graham, Kopec and Moore,
only 1,478 Colt Single Action Army revolvers were
produced with long fluted cylinders.
According to "Colt's Double-Action
Revolver, Model of 1878" by
Wilkerson, only 149 Colt Model
1878 Double Action Revolvers were
produced in this configuration.
