Ornate Bronze European Naval Gun with Carriage - , 2 1/4 inch cal., 36 inch round bbl., bronze finish. This
Victorian era European naval gun is being de-accessioned from the famous George F. Harding Jr. Collection and the
Art Institute of Chicago (reference number 1982.3544a-b) and has “1673” among the designs on the barrel along
with two guns on carriages, a stack of cannon balls, a coronet over a knights helm. it has a pair of “dolphin” handles.
The Art Institute listed the following dimensions: “Length overall of cannon: 37 in. (94 cm) Bore: 2 5/16 in. (5.9
cm) Diameter of vent: 5/16 in. (.9 cm) Length of carriage: 25 5/16 in. (64.3) Height of carriage: 10 3/8 in. (26.4 cm)
Width of carriage: 10 3/4 in. (27.4 cm) Diameter of wheels: 6 1/2 in. (16.5 cm) Width between hub ends: 17 in. (43.2
cm) Weight of cannon: 104 lb. 6 oz. Weight of
carriage: 43 lb. 9 oz.”
CONDITION: Fine with attractively aged
patina, distinct designs, and mild age
and storage related wear.

Flintlock Blunderbuss
- NSN, 10 gauge, 18 inch round
bbl., bright finish, walnut stock.
This blunderbuss from c. 1770 has a brass barrel is marked with early Birmingham private proofs and an “crown/FG” maker’s mark at the
breech. The bore is estimated and flares out to around 1 5/8 inches at the muzzle. The flat lock is signed “Fisher” and has a non-bridled pan.
The brass furniture is lightly engraved, including a shell trigger plate finial, and the side plate is a nice pierced design. The stock has raised shell carving around the barrel
tang and broad diamond checkering with dot accents on the wrist.
CONDITION: Fine with attractively aged patina on the barrel, dark patina on the lock along with mild pitting, and general mild overall wear. The period refinished stock is also fine and has
spliced repairs visible at the forend tip and breech, distinct checkering, and mild scratches and dings. Mechanically fine.

Napoleonic Wars Era Engraved Appleton Brass
Barrel Flintlock Blunderbuss with Muzzle
Marked “My Voice You Soon Shall Hear When
Foreign Foes Appear” - NSN, 9 gauge,
13 3/4 inch round bbl.,
bright/brass finish,
walnut stock. This early
1800s blunderbuss has
a fascinating inscription
on the muzzle: “*MY
VOICE YOU SOON SHALL
HEAR * WHEN FOREIGN
FOES APPEAR” noting that its owner
was ready to defend the United Kingdom from foreign invasion which was a real threat
during the Napoleonic era. The bore is approximately .80 caliber (9 bore) towards the
breech and flares to around 1 3/8 inches at the muzzle. The top of the barrel is marked “Appleton
London”, and London proof marks are to the left at the breech. The lock is also signed “Appleton” and has martial and scroll engraving and a frizzen
spring roller. The mounts are brass and feature an acorn finial on the trigger guard and martial and foliate engraving. The stock is smooth walnut.
The wood ramrod has a brass tip and an iron worm.
CONDITION: Fine with attractively aged patina on the barrel and mounts, dark brown patina and patches of pitting on the lock, and mild overall
wear. The revarnished stock is very good with some faint repaired cracks, dings, scratches, and minor flakes. Mechanically functions.
