Pair of H. Nock Flintlock Officer/Heavy Dragoon Pistols with Case -A) H. Nock Flintlock Pistol - NSN,
65 cal., 9 inch round bbl., bright finish, walnut stock. These Napoleonic War era pistols are similar to the
heavy dragoon pistols of the era and may have been purchased for a yeoman/volunteer cavalry unit. They
are marked “H-NOCK” on the locks and “LONDON” on top of the barrels and have London proof marks to the
left. The mounts are brass and have “7” inscribed on the trigger guard bows. The pair comes in a later case
with a “P” inscribed on the brass lid escutcheon.
CONDITION: Very good with gray and dark brown patina, oil staining, light oxidation, nice aged patina on the mounts, and distinct markings. The stock is good aside from a
chip below the nose of the lock and a crack on the left at the breech and otherwise has minor marks and scratches. Mechanically functions. The relined case is good with mild
age and storage related wear including a few cracks. B) H. Nock Flintlock Pistol - NSN, 65 cal., 9 inch round bbl., bright finish, walnut stock. As described in “A.”
CONDITION: Very good with gray and dark brown patina, staining, oxidation, aged patina on the mounts, and mostly age and storage related wear. The stock is good and has a small crack below the tail
of the lock and mild scratches and dents. Mechanically functions.

Pair of Silver Mounted William Cornforth Flintlock Pistols -A) W. Cornforth
Flintlock Pistol - NSN, 65 cal., 9 inch round bbl., bright/silver finish, walnut stock.
Cornforth is noted on page 75 of “Gunmakers of London 1350-1850” by Blackmore
as “Gunmaker allowed to prove guns by Gunmakers Co., 1724-9. Fined for
putting his mark on gun barrels, not being a freeman, 1728.” This pair features
smoothbore barrels with a swamped profile, “W. CORNFORTH LONDON” marked
on top at the breeches, London proof marks flanking what appears to be an
“RB” maker’s mark to the left, gold vent liners, and grooved breeches with scroll
engraving on the tangs. The rounded locks are signed “Wm/CORNFORTH”. The
mounts are silver. The side plates have a pierced foliate scroll design. The pommel
caps have grotesque masks. The wrist escutcheons have an eagle and torse. The
stocks are smooth walnut.
CONDITION: Very good with silver-gray and brown patina on the lock and barrel,
minor oxidation, aged patina on the silver mounts, dent on the pommel cap, crack in
the cock, and fairly minor wear. The wood is fine and has minor marks and scratches.
Mechanically functions. B) W. Cornforth Flintlock Pistol - NSN, 65 cal., 9 inch round
bbl., bright/silver finish, walnut stock. See “A.”
CONDITION: Very good with mostly silver-gray patina on the lock and barrel, a crack in the neck of the cock,
minor oxidation/pitting, attractively aged patina on the silver mounts, and general minor wear. The stock is fine
and has light scratches and dings and a few tiny flakes. Mechanically functions.

Pair of Silver Mounted British Jackson Flintlock Officer’s Pistols
-A) Jackson Officer’s Pistol - Serial no. 1K-S1281, 60 cal., 10 inch part
octagon bbl., brown/bright finish, walnut stock. Both pistols manufactured c. late 18th to early 19th century by
Jackson of London, with silver hallmarks that appear to date to 1785 on the rear trigger guard tang of the “A” gun only. A number of different
Jacksons are listed as active gunmakers around this time period. Both pistols have “JACKSON” marked locks, “London” signed on top of the barrels ahead of
“1K-S 1281” and 2K-S 1281” Irish registration marks respectively, possibly for County Sligo, crown above crossed scepter proofs on the upper left flat at the breech, silver
wire inlays in the stocks including oval scenes on top of the wrist, with checkering in the grips, and silver fittings including the raised martial scene sideplates.
CONDITION: Very good, with antiqued brown patina on the barrel, mostly bright lock with some areas of brown patina on the hammer and components, some light pitting, with bright
patina on the silver components. Stock is also very good as restored, with a few cracks and absent sections along the front edges, and fine figure. Mechanically excellent.
B) Jackson Officer’s Pistol - Serial no. 2K-S1281, 60 cal., 10 inch part octagon bbl., brown/bright finish, walnut stock. See “A” description.
CONDITION: Very good, with antiqued brown patina on the barrel, mostly bright lock with a casehardened area behind the hammer and some areas of brown patina on the hammer and components, some light pitting, with bright
patina on the silver components. Professional replacement rear trigger guard tang section. Stock is also very good as restored, with some cracks and chips, and fine figure. Mechanically excellent.
