Colt M16A1 Selective Fire Rifle, Nine Million
Serial Range, Class III/NFA Fully Transferable
Machine Gun - Serial no. 9602956, 5.56 mm cal., 20
inch round bbl., matte black finish, synthetic stock.
Manufactured in the 1970s and 1980s, the “9 million”
serial range M16s were intended for commercial
or export sale but were made to military-grade
specifications as Colt’s domestic armed forces
contracts. Features winged post front sight, A1-style
flash hider on the “C MP CHROME BORE” marked
barrel, bayonet lug, triangular handguard, and a “L
M” marked upper receiver with two-leaf windage
adjustable rear sight, fixed carry handle, short casing
deflector and teardrop forward assist. The lower
receiver has the standard markings on the left side,
with a right handed “SAFE/SEMI/AUTO” marked
selector, A1 pattern pistol grip, fixed A1 pattern
buttstock and a black nylon sling. The bolt head and
carrier are matte black finished, the former marked
“MPC” and the latter marked “C” and serrated for the
forward assist, with a one-piece buffer, “7” and “C”
marked hammer, and proper safe/semi/full internals.
Includes a “U.S. M7” marked bayonet, sans scabbard.
CONDITION: Excellent with 98% of the original matte
black finish with minor edge wear and handling
marks on the metal and the furniture. Mechanically
excellent. The bayonet is very fine, with light wear.
NOTE: This weapon is a National Firearms Act
(NFA), fully transferable Class 3, which is registered
with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and
Explosives, (BATFE) under the provisions of 18 U.S.C.
Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 479.
