Pair of Factory Engraved Auguste Francotte Hand
Detachable Sidelock Double Barrel Shotguns with Case
-A) A. Francotte Sidelock Shotgun - Serial no. 90740-1, 12 gauge, 28 7/16 inch
solid rib bbl., blue/casehardened finish, walnut stock. Each gun in the set is built with
blued steel chopperlump barrels featuring a single bead sight which is marked with a gold
“1” or “2” at the base, “AUGUSTE FRANCOTTE” and “BREVETE LIEGE” on the right and left tubes
respectively, 1964 dated Liege proof marks, choke constrictions of .016/.023 inches, and 2
1/2 inch chambers with automatic ejectors. The barrels are fitted to the casehardened hand
detachable sidelock actions which display near full coverage classic English style bouquet and
scroll engraving, “ED. CASCIANO/ARMI/ROMA” retailer mark on the trigger guard, and a gold “1”
or “2” on the toplever. The guns feature bushed firing pins, gold centerlined cocking indicators,
dual triggers, right hand rolled trigger guards, and a tang mounted automatic safety with gold
inlaid “SAFE” indicator. The guns are fitted with beautifully figured and multi-point checkered
splinter forends with engraved irons and a gold “1” or “2” on the Anson button as well as
straight hand stocks with tear drop carved drop points, “AJ” in the gold inscription ovals,
and brown rubber recoil pads. Included is a leather double gun motor case with factory and
retailer labels. Stock measurements: 1 1/2 inch drop at comb; 2 1/8 inch drop at heel; 14 3/4 inch length of pull; weight 6 lbs. 12 oz.
CONDITION: Very fine, retaining 95% original blue finish with loss and plum hue on the trigger guard/lower tang, 95% original case colors
with some muting, mild handling evidence, tiny crack behind the left lockplate, and crisp checkering on the stock and forend. Mechanically
excellent. The case is very good.
B) A. Francotte Sidelock Shotgun - Serial no. 90741-2, 12 gauge, 28 7/16 inch solid rib bbl., blue/casehardened finish, walnut stock. As
described in “A”. Stock measurements: 1 1/2 inch drop at comb; 2 1/4 inch drop at heel; 14 3/4 inch length of pull; weight 6 lbs. 12 oz.
CONDITION: Very fine, retaining 95% original blue finish with loss and plum hue on the trigger guard/lower tang, 95% original case colors with
some muting, light handling evidence, tiny crack behind the left lockplate, and crisp checkering on the stock and forend. Mechanically excellent.

Factory Engraved August Lebeau-Courally Model C
Sidelock Double Barrel Shotgun - Serial no. 43520, 12 gauge, 27 5/8 inch solid rib
bbl., blue/casehardened finish, walnut stock. Built with blued steel barrels featuring a
single brass bead sight on the matted concave solid rib, factory markings on both tubes, single band of engraving
at the breech, import mark on under rib, 1962 dated Liege proof marks, choke constrictions of .020/.034 inches, and 2
3/4 inch chambers with ejectors. The barrels are fitted to the casehardened sidelock action which shows light engraving at the
bolts and pins with “AUG. LEBEAU-COURALLY A LIEGE” on either lockplate and “FAIT POUT E. CASCIANO ROME” on the lower tang. The
gun features bushed firing pins, double triggers (front articulated), and a tang mounted manual safety with gold “S” indicator. The gun is fitted
with a nicely figured and multi-point checkered splinter forend with an inlaid gold crest marked “THE STANDARD PIGEON GUN” as well as a straight hand stock with blank gold inscription oval and a
checkered bare butt. Stock measurements: 1 5/16 inch drop at comb; 1 13/16 inch drop at heel; 14 5/16 inch length of pull; weight 7 lbs. 2 oz.
CONDITION: Very fine overall, retaining 98% original blue and 95% casehardened finishes, light handling evidence, some minor spotting on the tang, light rubbing at the muzzle, some varnish
spotting, a few light dings and scratches, and crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.

Factory Engraved Defourny Sidelock Double Barrel Shotgun - Serial
no. 9883-1, 12 gauge, 27 1/2 inch solid rib bbl., blue/coin finish, walnut stock. Built
with blued steel barrels featuring a single nickel bead sight on the matted concave solid rib, single band
of engraving at the breech, front sling swivel, Belgian proof marks dating to the 1950s, import mark on under rib,
choke constrictions of .016/.042 inches, and 2 3/4 inches with ejectors. The barrels are fitted to the coin finished Beesley
type sidelock action which displays border engraving as well as light scroll engraving on the bolsters and “JOS. DEFOURNY/
FABRICANT/A HERSTAL” marked on the underside. The gun features bushed firing pins, clipped fences, hidden third fastener, double
triggers (front articulated), and a tang mounted manual safety with gold inlaid “S” indicator. The gun is fitted with an attractively figured and multi-point checkered
splinter forend with lightly engraved iron and a straight hand stock with rear sling swivel and a serrated horn buttplate. Stock measurements: 1 1/2 inch drop at comb; 2 5/16 inch drop at heel; 13 3/4
inch length of pull; weight 6 lbs. 6 oz.
CONDITION: Excellent, retaining 99% original blue and coin finishes with minor handling evidence and some minor discoloration on the coin. There are chips at the left front of the forend and at the
toe; otherwise, the wood is very fine with crisp checkering on the wood. Mechanically excellent.
