Flintlock Pistol -
NSN, 65 cal., 7 7/8

silver/gold/brown/
casehardened/blue finish, walnut stock.
These early 19th century flintlock pistols feature carbine bore (.65 caliber) Damascus barrels
with smooth bores, silver bead front sights, “London” inscribed on the top flats at the breech
in ornate script, and dual gold inlaid bands and platinum vent liners on the casehardened
patent breeches. The casehardened standing breeches have notch rear sights and foliate
engraving. The flat locks have “Davidson” signed in ornate script, rainproof priming pans,
frizzen spring rollers, sliding half-cock safeties, and scroll and foliate border engraving.
The forend caps, wedge escutcheons, and wrist escutcheons are silver, and the latter
are inscribed “TS/To/GL”. The ramrod entry pipes and trigger guards are blued steel. The
trigger plate finials are stylized pineapples, and the trigger guards have foliate and martial
engraving. The walnut half-stocks have checkered wrists. The pair comes in a fitted case with balls, a
punch, oiler, “WD” and “No 19” marked ball mold, small powder flask, and rod.
CONDITION: Very fine with distinct engraving and markings, bright gold inlaid bands, attractively aged patina on the silver, 85% period refurbished brown, casehardened, and blue finish; some marks at the edges, minor oxidation,
and fairly minor overall wear. The stock is also very fine and has crisp checkering, nearly all of the glossy varnish, and minor scratches and marks. Mechanically functions. The case is good with a repaired crack in the lid, relined
interior, reproduction label, and mild wear. The accessories are fine with mild age and storage related wear.
B) Davidson Flintlock Pistol - NSN, 65 cal., 7 7/8 inch octagon bbl., silver/gold/brown/casehardened/blue finish, walnut stock. As described in “A.”
CONDITION: Fine with distinct engraving and markings, attractive dark aged patina on the silver, bright gold bands, 75% period refurbished brown finish and distinct Damascus patterns on the barrel, silver-gray patina on the
lock, 80% original blue,mild oxidation, and general mild wear. The stock is also fine and has a couple of small chips (one repaired) at the lock mortise, nearly all of the glossy varnish, crisp checkering, and mild dings and scratches.
Mechanically functions.

stock. These early
19th century dueling pistols from William Thomas Bond of London feature smoothbore,
Damascus, swamped octagonal barrels with dovetailed silver blade front sights, “-
-W-BOND. LOMBARD-STRT.-LONDON- -” signed on the top flats, gold line touch holes,
and bands of foliate engraving at the breech ends. The casehardened standing breeches
feature notch rear sights and foliate engraving. The locks are signed “- -W-BOND- -” and
have light floral engraving, frizzen spring rollers, and stepped tails. They pistols are equipped with single set triggers. The escutcheons are silver. The trigger guards and ramrod pipes are blued steel, and the former features stylized
pineapple finials and floral and martial engraving. The full-length stocks have checkered wrists with smooth side panels. The pair comes in a fitted case with a William Bond trade label, rods, oiler, leather wrapped ball and powder
flask, screwdriver, “26” marked ball mold, punch, and key.
CONDITION: Very fine overall with 75% plus original brown finish and dark original case colors, bright gold, dark aged patina on the silver, 85% original blue on the mounts, distinct markings and engraving, crisp checkering on the
stock, and generally fairly minor overall wear mostly from age, including light oxidation and occasional scratches. Mechanically excellent. The relined case and accessories are fine with mild age and storage wear, the left hook from
the case lid absent, and some cracks. B) W. Bond Flintlock Dueling Pistol - NSN, 56 cal., 10 3/4 inch octagon bbl., gold/silver/brown/casehardened/blue finish, walnut stock. As described in “A.”
CONDITION: Very fine with 70% plus original brown finish and original case colors, bright gold, dark aged patina on the silver, 85% plus original blue on the mounts, distinct markings and engraving, and generally fairly minor
overall wear mostly from age such as a few minor scratches and faint oxidation. The stock is fine and has a crack on the left at the breech, a tiny flake and crack at the rear of the lock, light scratches and dings, and crisp checkering.
The set trigger needs adjustment, but the lock functions. This is a very attractive cased pair of classic English dueling pistols.
