Desirable Herter’s Inc. Hudson Bay 41 A
X Kodiak Bear Trap - Manufactured c. 1971-
1979, this is a desirable example of a Hudson
Bay Kodiak Bear Trap manufactured by Herter’s Inc.
Established in Waseca, Minnesota, in 1937, Herter’s was a prominent mail order sporting and outdoor
goods retailer that was a major inspiration for many modern sporting goods suppliers. Herter’s appears
to have began producing various traps starting in the 1960s, with the first bear traps appearing in 1971
and continuing until 1979. This massive trap measures approximately 43 1/4 inches long with the setting
springs extended fully. The pressure plate has the standard model and manufacturer markings in raised
letters and a pierced through “H” at the center.
CONDITION: Fine with attractive dark brown patina and light oxidation.

Colt First Generation Single Action
Army Revolver with Factory Letter - Serial no. 302864, 45 Long Colt
cal., 4 3/4 inch round bbl., blue/casehardened finish, hard rubber grips.
The accompanying factory letter lists this revolver as shipped on April 15,
1908, to Simmons Hardware Co. in St. Louis, Missouri, in .45 caliber, with a 4 3/4
inch barrel, blue finish, and type of grips not listed. This was a 25 gun shipment.
The top of the barrel has the two-line Hartford address, and the “45 COLT” caliber
marking is on the left. Two-line patent date markings and circled Rampant Colt on the left
of the frame. Matching visible serial numbers on the frame, trigger guard, and back strap,
with assembly number “3695” on the loading gate.
CONDITION: Very good, retains 30% original blue finish, traces of
original case colors in a few protected areas, with smooth gray and
brown patina on the balance, some patches of light pitting, scattered
freckling, and defined markings. Grips are very fine, with tight fitment,
minimal handling marks, and crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.

Antique Special Order Winchester Model 1873 Lever Action Rifle
with Desirable Casehardened Frame and Factory Letter - Serial no.
75576, 38 WCF cal., 24 inch octagon bbl., blue/casehardened finish,
walnut stock. Manufactured in 1881, this is a solid example
of a special ordered Winchester Model 1873 rifle. The Model 1873s were
highly valued and extensively used on the frontier, where they earned the nickname “the gun
that won the west”. Along with Colt’s “Peacemaker” revolver, which shared many of the same calibers, the
Model 1873 formed the most iconic duo of firearms in the American West. The included factory letter lists the
rifle in .38 caliber with an octagon barrel, plain trigger, half magazine, and casehardened finish when received at the
warehouse on 4 November 1881 and indicates it shipped the following day in order number 28057. No mention is made of the
shotgun butt, though it is original, with the assembly marked “38” over “1747” and matching “1747 CF” on the left side of the lower
tang. It has the Second Model receiver with the dust cover guide retained with two screws and a dust cover with grip serrations at the rear.
The top barrel flat is marked with the two-line address/King’s patent marking with the caliber marking at the breech and on the bottom of
the cartridge elevator. The model marking is on the upper tang and the serial number is on the lower tang. It is fitted with a German silver
No. 21 “Sporting” front sight and an elevation adjustable No. 22 “Sporting” rear sight. It is mounted with a smooth forearm and straight grip
stock with a smooth steel shotgun buttplate.
CONDITION: Fine, retains 75% plus of the untouched original blue finish, 30% of the original case colors with the balance a silvered out grey patina, and 20% of the original nitre blue on the loading gate, with some scattered
patches speckled oxidation and patches of light pitting. The wood is also fine with a few light chips near the buttplate and some minor dings and scratches. Mechanically excellent.

Desirable Winchester Model 1894 Lever
Action Saddle Ring Trapper’s Carbine with
15 Inch Barrel and ATF Exemption Letter
- Serial no. 851653, 30 WCF cal., 15 inch round bbl., blue finish, hardwood stock.
Manufactured in 1917, this is a desirable example of a Winchester Model 1894 “Trapper’s” carbine with a desirable 15 inch barrel.
These handy little short barreled carbines were highly regarded in the rugged environment of the American West well into the 20th century.
These small carbines were very useful for anyone looking to pack a powerful punch in a small, easy to carry package. An included ATF exemption
letter lists this carbine by serial number as being removed from the provisions of the NFA and listed as a “C&R Firearm”. There are Winchester
factory oval proofs on the barrel and receiver at the breech. The left of the barrel is marked with the model, trademark, nickel steel, and caliber markings,
while the right has the standard two-line address. The upper tang is marked with the three-line model and trademark information, and the serial number is marked
on the bottom of the receiver. It is fitted with a pinned blade front sight, folding ladder rear sight, and a saddle ring on the left of the receiver. It is mounted with a smooth
walnut forearm and smooth, straight grip, gumwood stock with a carbine buttplate.
CONDITION: Very good, retains 60% of the original blue finish on the barrel and 90% of the blue
finish on the replacement magazine tube with the balance mostly a smooth grey patina. The reoiled
wood is also very good with some scattered minor dings and scratches. Mechanically excellent.
