Two Cased Factory Engraved and Gold Inlaid Colt Custom Shop Black Powder Series Navy Model Percussion Revolvers with Boxes
-A) Colt Second Generation Black Powder Series Model 1861 Navy Revolver - Serial no. 42475, 36 cal., 7 1/2 inch round bbl., blue/casehardened/silver/gold finish, walnut
grips. Manufactured c. 1980-1981 in the 40,000 to 43,165 serial range, per page 22 of “Black Powder Revolvers - Reproductions & Replicas” by Dennis Adler. Both revolvers feature
fixed front and notch-on-hammer rear sights, the one-line Colt New York address roll marked on top of the blued barrels, the patent marking and “36 CAL” caliber designations
on the left of the casehardened frames, silver plated grip frames, along with extensive Colt Custom Shop class “C” factory floral scroll patterned engravings with punch dot
backdrops, as well as gold bordering on the cylinders and two gold bands on each muzzle. Both revolvers are housed in a Colt Custom Shop walnut display case with fitted velvet
interior. Includes a Colt Black Powder Series box with matching numbered Colt Custom Gun Shop end label.
CONDITION: Excellent overall, retaining 99% plus original blue finish, silver plating, and gold inlays along with 98% vivid original case colors, some attractive darkening to the silver plating, along with crisp
engraving and gold inlays. Mechanically excellent. The box is very fine with some minor storage marks. The case is very fine with some minor handling scuffs.
B) Colt Second Generation Black Powder Series Model 1862 Pocket Navy Revolver - Serial no. 49081, 36 cal., 5 1/2 inch round bbl., blue/casehardened/silver/gold finish, walnut grips. Manufactured
c. 1980-1981 in the 49,000 to 57,300 serial range, per pages 21-22 of “Black Powder Revolvers - Reproductions & Replicas” by Dennis Adler. As described in “A”. Includes a Colt Black Powder Series box with
matching numbered Colt Custom Gun Shop end label and the standard Colt end label.
CONDITION: Excellent overall, retaining 99% original blue finish, case colors, silver plating, and gold inlays, with some limited minor handling evidence,
some attractive darkening to the silver plating, and crisp engraving.
Mechanically excellent. The box is fine, with a tear on the side of the lid.

Exceptional Alvin A. White Master Engraved and Silver Mounted
Contemporary “Kentucky” Flintlock Pistol with Presentation
Case - NSN, 38 cal., 8 1/8 inch part octagon bbl., bright/casehardened/
silver finish, curly maple stock. The rifled brass barrel is signed “AAW” in
script on top by Master Engraver Alvin A. White who was one of the most
talented American arms engravers in the 20th century and indeed in
American history. While best known for engraved Colt revolvers, White
had a personal interest in muzzleloading firearms. The barrel also features
a silver blade front sight and flourishes of scroll engraving. The bright
steel/iron upper tang has floral engraving and a notch rear sight. The
lock is signed “A.A. White” and has scroll engraving. The furniture is silver.
The sideplate is engraved with a bald eagle and classical martial trophies.
The pommel cap has a grotesque mask. The trigger guard has floral and
fan patterns. The wrist escutcheon has floral finials. The nicely figured
and shaped stock has raised shell carving at the barrel tang. Includes a
custom-made leather wrapped presentation case with the lid marked
“HAPPY BIRTHDAY LARRY/DADDY/FROM/CHARLOTTE HEIDI PETER AND
PAPA/1975” as well as two decorative borders, all gilt filled.
This case is believed to have been crafted for renowned firearms author
R.L. Wilson as a birthday gift in 1975.
CONDITION: Exceptionally fine with light aged patinas on the brass and
silver, French gray color and light case colors on the lock, crisp engraving
and markings, and minor marks and scratches. The stock is also very fine
and has smooth finish, nice figure, crisp carving, and some minor dings
and scratches mainly on the forend. Mechanically fine. The case is fine
with some mild handling/storage wear.
