with Factory Letter - Serial no. M40000, 38 Special
cal., 2 inch solid rib bbl., nickel finish, walnut grips.
The included factory letter confirms the revolver’s
configuration, including a two inch barrel, .38 Special caliber, nickel finish, and
type of grips not listed when sent in a shipment of two revolvers to Service
Armament Company in Ridgefield, New Jersey, on August 27, 1976. The records
also list the revolver as transferred to Nationwide Sports Distributors, County Line Road &
Jamesway, Southampton, Pennsylvania, on December 17, 1976. It features fixed ramped blade
front and matted top-strap notch rear sights. The two-line Colt address is roll-marked on the
right of the barrel with the two-line model and caliber designations roll-marked on the left side, Rampant
Colt on the left side of the frame, and Colt “triangle/VP” and “8” factory proofs stamped on the left side of the trigger
guard. Matching serial numbers on the frame and crane. Fitted with a pair of over-sized checkered walnut grips.
CONDITION: Excellent, retaining 99% plus original nickel plating with some faint handling marks and clear roll-marks. The
varnished grips are very fine with a few light compression marks. Mechanically excellent.

Number H90000 with Factory Letter - Serial no.
H90000, 38 Special cal., 2 inch solid rib bbl., blue
finish, walnut grips. Manufactured in 1975, the included
factory letter confirms the revolver as initially being a part
of the firm’s Engineering Archives collection (made available to the Custom Shop,
Engineering, and Historical departments of Colt) as well as its configuration, including a
two inch barrel in .38 Special caliber, blue finish, and wood grips, when sent to Butterfield &
Butterfield Fine Art Auctioneers & Appraisers in San Francisco, California, on May 20, 1996. The factory letter
further details that the revolver was a part of the Colt’s Archive collection that was consigned by the firm for auction
purposes. Features fixed ramped blade front and matted top-strap notch rear sights, The two-line Colt address roll-
marked on the right side of the barrel with the two-line model and caliber designations on the left side, Rampant Colt on
the left side of the frame, along with Colt “triangle/VP” and “J” factory proofs stamped on the left side of the trigger guard.
Fitted with a pair of checkered walnut grips with silver Colt Medallion inserts.
CONDITION: Excellent plus, retaining 99% plus original bright blue finish with a very faint cylinder drag line, limited
handling evidence, and crisp roll-markings. The grips are also excellent with original light oil finish and well-defined
checkering. Mechanically excellent. A chance to own a very attractive Colt Agent revolver that was initially retained by the
firm for its own Engineering Archive collection!

Letter - Serial no. M70000, 38 Special cal., 2 inch
solid rib bbl., nickel finish, walnut grips. Manufactured
in 1975, the included factory letter confirms the revolver as initially being a part
of the firm’s Engineering Archives collection (made available to the Custom Shop,
Engineering, and Historical departments of Colt) as well as its configuration, including a two
inch barrel in .38 caliber, nickel finish, and wood grips. The factory letter further details that
the revolvers was a part of the Colt’s Archive collection that was consigned by the firm for
auction purposes. Features fixed ramped blade front and matted top-strap notch rear sights, The two-line Colt address

Action Revolver Serial Number F40000 with Box and Factory Letter - Serial
no. F40000, 38 Special cal., 2 inch solid rib bbl., nickel finish, walnut grips. The
included factory letter confirms the serial number, barrel length, caliber, finish,
“Wood” grips, and May 20, 1996, date of Shipment to Butterfield & Butterfield of
San Francisco, California. The letter further states that the revolver was initially
kept in the Colt Factory Archives for use by the Custom Shop, engineering, and historical departments for
reference purposes. Includes original “wood grain” box.
CONDITION: Excellent overall. 99% slightly frosted original nickel finish remains with a few light handling
marks, and sharp checkering on the grips. Mechanically excellent. Box is fair with end flaps detached but
included. A chance to own a very attractive Colt Detective Special revolver that was initially retained by
the firm for its own Engineering Archive collection!

Revolver Serial Number F88888 with Box and Factory Letter - Serial no.
F88888, 38 Special cal., 2 inch solid rib bbl., blue finish, walnut grips. The factory
letter states that the gun was shipped in its current configuration on May 20,
1996, from Colt’s Engineering Archives Collection. It was held at the factory to be
used for reference purposes by the Custom Shop, Engineering, and Historical Departments. Includes the
original Colt “wood grain” box.
CONDITION: Excellent plus overall, retaining 99% plus original blue, minimal handling evidence, faint
cylinder drag lines, slight mark on the right grip panel (at butt), and sharp grip checkering. Mechanically
excellent. The box is fine with moderate wear. A chance to own a very attractive Colt Cobra revolver that
was initially retained by the firm for its own Engineering Archive collection!
