The top of the action over the breech is marked “T-A-SMITH/
LATE OF/HOLLAND & HOLLAND”, above and below the bust
of a Confederate soldier. The matching serial number is on the
lower tang, left of the breech block, and left of the hammer.
The top flat on the barrel is marked “45/90~2-4 CASE”. The
front sight dovetail is empty, there is no rear sight seat, and the
upper tang is drilled and tapped for a peep sight. It is mounted
with a multi-point checkered forearm with an iron cap and a
nicely figured, pistol grip stock with a shadowline cheek piece
and a checkered bare butt.
CONDITION: Very fine as professionally embellished by
Terence A. Smith, retains 80% plus of the slightly thinned blue
finish, showing a plum hue overall and slightly darker near
the breech. The action remains bright with crisp engraving
overall. The deluxe wood is excellent with a few scattered light
handling marks and crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. A
beautiful Creedmoor pattern rolling block rifle with a Civil War
theme built by the extremely talented T.A. Smith!
Estimate: 6,000 - 11,000
