Steen Reproduction 12-Pounder Model 1835

here is a high quality reproduction 12-Pounder
Model 1835 mountain howitzer with carriage,
manufactured by Steen Cannon & Ordnance
Works of Ashland, Kentucky. Established in
1993, Steen is no longer in business as of
recent, and their products are coveted
by reenactors and collectors, as they
were a major supplier of ordnance for
the National Park Service. The original
12-Pounder mountain howitzers
were used in the Mexican-American
War, utilized by both the Union and
Confederacy during the Civil War, and
Indian Wars. They were lightweight,
mobile, and durable and could use a
variety of anti-personnel rounds. They
were the smallest of the regulation howitzers. It has a 4.62 inch diameter
(12-pound) smooth bore, “1393” marked on the face of the muzzle, “1862” on
the left trunnion, and “JRA & CO/TF” on the right trunnion. Includes a wooden
carriage with a Steen manufacturer brass plaque on the front numbered
“2018”, loading and cleaning tools, and 8 cannon balls. The tube measures
approximately 37 inches from muzzle to cascabel, with a 31 inch inside bore
length, with overall measurements including the carriage approximately 80
inches long by 54 1/2 inches wide by 42 inches tall.
CONDITION: Excellent, exhibiting a bright appearance on the bronze tube, and
defined markings. Carriage is very fine with most of the green and black painted
finishes. An outstanding quality Steen reproduction of a 12-Pounder Model 1835
Mountain Howitzer!
