Mr. Blank’s collection notes indicate that he acquired the gun from Joe Kindig Jr. and
that it came from Nymphenburg Palace in Munich. A flintlock rifle by Jacob Walster of
Saarbruck with a heart-shaped bore forms part of the collection of the Royal Collection
Trust at Windsor, and another flintlock rifle by Lewis Barbar using an earlier German
triangular bore barrel formed part of the famous W. Keith Neal Collection. See W. Keith
Neal and D.H.L. Back’s “Great British Gunmakers 1540-1740” on p. 299, plates 118 a-e
and Howard L. Blackmore’s “Royal Sporting Guns at Windsor” on pp. 47-48, plates 32-33.
CONDITION: Fine overall with silver-gray patina, bright gold, minor oxidation/pitting,
repaired crack in the neck of the cock, absent front barrel pin mount, crisp engraving
and carving, some chips and spliced repairs in the stock, and general mild scratches
and dings. Mechanically excellent.

CONDITION: Fine with 70% plus original blue finish, much of the original gold, silver-gray and gray
patina on the lock and mounts, some minor oxidation/pitting, crisp engraving and markings, and
generally only light age and storage related wear. The stock is also fine and has distinct carving and
molding, mild scratches and dings, and minor chips and cracks. Mechanically excellent.
