Cased Pair of Engraved and Gold
Inlaid William Parker Over/Under
Officer’s Carbine Bore Pistols
-A) W. Parker Double Barrel Flintlock Pistol -
NSN, 65 cal., 7 1/2 inch octagon bbl., brown/
casehardened/blue finish, walnut grips. Over/
under pistols of this fashion were popular at the
end of the 18th century and into the early 19th
century. The smoothbore barrels of these c. 1810
pistols are .65 caliber (carbine bore) and feature
bands of engraving at the muzzles, bead front
sights, “W. Parker London Maker to his Majesty”
signed on top followed by County Galway Irish
registration marks “G-924” (A) and “G-925” (B),
scroll engraving and pairs of gold bands at the
breech ends of the upper barrels, platinum touch
hole liners, London proof marks on the lower
barrels, and swivel mounted ramrods. The locks
are signed “W-PARKER” and have rainproof pans,
rollers on the frizzen springs, sliding safeties that
lock the frizzens, and burst, foliate, and martial
engraving. The mounts are engraved en suite.
The wrist escutcheons are silver with engraved
borders, and the grips are checkered. The pair
comes in a fitted mahogany case with a William
Parker trade label, loading/cleaning rod, three-
compartment combination flask, oiler, and an
associated 32 bore ball mold.
CONDITION: Fine as refinished with 85% plus
brown finish, bright gold bands and platinum
liners, light aged patina on the silver, 80% plus
original case colors, 75% plus original blue finish,
patches of oxidation staining on the barrels, and
generally only minor wear. The stock is fine and
has crisp checkering, a faint repair above the
right lock, and a few small dents and scratches.
Mechanically excellent. The refurbished case is
very good with mild storage wear.
B) W. Parker Double Barrel Flintlock Pistol -
NSN, 65 cal., 7 1/2 inch octagon bbl., brown/
casehardened/blue finish, walnut grips. See “A.”
CONDITION: Fine as refinished with 80% of the
brown, blue, and casehardened finish remaining;
bright gold bands and platinum liners, minor
oxidation staining, crisp markings and engraving,
replaced left safety, and mild wear. The grip
is fine and has crisp checkering, small flakes
at the edges, and minor dings and scratches.
Mechanically excellent.
