Desirable Colt King Super Target Upgraded Colt Camp Perry Single
Shot Rimfire Target Pistol with Roper Grips and Factory
Letter - Serial no. 2222, 22 LR cal., 6 3/8 inch round bbl., blue
finish, walnut grips. Manufactured in 1941, the included factory
letter lists the pistols as furnished with an eight inch barrel
in .22 caliber, blue finish, and wood grips when sent to the
Colt Loan Account, Show Case, company president Samuel M.
Stone’s office, on May 8, 1941, with the letter further indicating
the pistol was returned to the factory on May 14, 1941, and
subsequently shipped to Walter P. Shoemake in Modesto,
California, the following day. Features a mirror lit red post front sight on a serrated vent rib marked “COLT-KING
SUPER TARGET” on the left side, the caliber designation roll-marked on the left of the cut-down and re-crowned
barrel, the model designation roll-marked on the left side of the simulated cylinder, Rampant Colt on the left
of the frame, along with Colt “triangle/VP” and “4” factory proof on the left side of the trigger guard. Fitted with
a pair of Roper period replacement finger grooved and checkered walnut grips, numbered “912” inside both
panels, with attached ivory extensions on the bottom. Consignor notes state this to be the only Colt King Super
Target Camp Perry pistol known.
CONDITION: Exceptionally fine as upgraded to Colt King specifications, retaining 95% original blue finish with
some light edge/rub wear on the sides some minor thinning on the trigger guard, and some minor handling
wear. The grips are also very fine as modified with a few minor handling marks in the otherwise mostly crisp
checkering. Mechanically excellent.

grips. Manufactured in
1921, featuring elevation
adjustable blade front
and windage adjustable
notch rear sights, the standard Colt caliber designation
and Rampant Colt on the left of the slide, along with “3”
over “triangle/VP” on the left of the trigger guard and
the serial number on the front strap. Matching serial
number visible on the underside of the slide. Fitted with
a pair of “diamond” pattern checkered walnut grips and
a two-tone blued magazine marked “CAL.22/COLT” on the base. Includes an original
Colt maroon box with appropriate end label and visible matching serial number written
on the underside in pencil.
CONDITION: Excellent, retaining 90% original bright blue finish with some fading on the barrel some minor edge
wear, a few scattered minor patches of spotting/freckling, dings on the top rear of the frame, and some minor
handling wear. the grips are also exceptionally fine with some minor handling evidence in the mostly crisp
checkering. Mechanically excellent. The box is very good with detached end label on lid.

Scarce Colt Camp Perry Single Shot Target Pistol - Serial
no. 622, 22 LR cal., 10 inch round bbl., blue finish, walnut
grips. Manufactured from 1920 to 1941 with this example
manufactured in 1927, this model was created by modifying an
Officer’s Model frame to accept a special flat single shot “cylinder”.
Colt named this model after the site of the U.S. Target Competition held
annually at Camp Perry, Ohio. Only about 2,525 Camp Perry pistols were
manufactured. This pistol has adjustable front and rear sights, standard markings, rampant Colt
on the sideplate, checkered trigger, hammer spur, and backstrap, and checkered walnut grips
with Colt medallions.
CONDITION: Excellent, retaining 95% original blue finish with minor handling evidence, some minor rubbing on
the contact surfaces, and few tiny freckles of spotting. The grips are very fine with some edge wear and crisp
checkering. Mechanically excellent.

included factory letter confirms
the pistol’s configuration,
including the six and a half
inch barrel chambered in .22
caliber, blue finish, type of grips
not listed, and with “B.P.D. 5078” factory engraved in block letters on the
right side of the receiver, when included in a
shipment of 6 pistols sent to the City of Boston
Police Department in Boston, Massachusetts
on November 18, 1938, as a part of factory
order number “8162”. Features a mirror lit King
pattern target blade front sight on an island
rib, an adjustable rear sight, a King pattern
counterweight tube system mounted under
the barrel, the two-line Colt address and patent
number roll-marked on top of the barrel with the
“MATCH/bullseye/TARGET” marking on the left,
the Woodsman model name on the left of the
frame with the aforementioned Boston police
“B-P-D-/5078” inventory marking on the right
side, the caliber designation roll-marked on the
left of the side, Colt “4” and “triangle/VP” factory
proofs on the left of the trigger guard with “99” on the right, and the serial number on the lower left side of the
grip frame, Fitted with a pair of custom over-sized, palm-swell checkered walnut grips and a two-tone blued
magazine with the proper “CAL.22/COLT” roll-mark on the base.
CONDITION: Very fine as period upgraded with Colt-King pattern enhancements, retaining 80% plus original
bright blue finish with scattered light edge wear, some light thinning and silvering on the counterweight tube
and rear grip strap some brown patina on the slide, a few scattered minor specs of spotting/freckling, light
handling wear, and clear roll marks and factory police inventory engraving. The period replacement custom grips
are very good with some compression marks and well-defined checkering. Mechanically excellent.
