Exceptional and Desirable Early
Production World War II U.S. Winchester M1 Semi-Automatic Carbine - Serial no.
1019908, 30 Carbine cal., 18 inch round bbl., parkerized finish, walnut stock. Manufactured early in the first production block
from Winchester between October 1942 to December 1943, in the 1000000-1349999 serial number range, per the production blocks listed on
page 327 of “M1 Carbine Comprehensive Guide” (2nd Expanded Edition) by R.C. Larson. Low number Winchester M1 Carbines such as this one
very rarely surface for public sale. The barrel has the early type markings consisting of a flaming bomb above “W.R.A.” and a “1-43” date reading
the long way. Winchester stopped adding dates to barrels very shortly after in February 1943. Features a winged blade front and “S” two position
L-flip rear sights, parkerized chamber, unmarked type I barrel band, “W” flat top bolt, “W” type I operating rod,
unmarked detachable spring tube, “W” recoil plate, an “O” marked milled trigger housing with unmarked smooth
push button safety, “W” type III magazine catch, “W” sear, and “W” type II dogleg hammer. Fitted with a smooth oiled
walnut high wood stock with I-cut oiler slot, stamped with a boxed “WRA/GHD” (Col. Guy H. Drewry) inspection
cartouche and ordnance wheel on the left of the butt, deep-groove two-rivet bullnose handguard, checkered steel
buttplate, and a “BW” blued magazine.
CONDITION: Exceptionally fine, retains 85% original parkerized finish with distinct markings. Stock is fine, with
distinct edges, a few very minor hairlines behind the trigger guard, some light dents, and crisp cartouches.
Mechanically excellent. This is an attractive example of a desirable early production Winchester M1 carbine!

Armory M1 Garand
Semi-Automatic Rifle with Documentation as a Battlefield Bringback, and
Bayonet - Serial no. 1567600, 30-06 Springfield cal., 24 inch round bbl., blue finish, walnut stock. Manufactured
in May of 1943. This desirable World War II M1 Garand rifle has accompanying documentation indicating it was a late war battlefield
bringback. The included letter of provenance states, “Clyde Cremer, author, collector and former owner of the rifle, purchased in 2012, this M1 Springfield
(Garand) Rifle, #1567600 from the nephew of Elmer Theodore Brown, a sailor who picked it up during his service on the USS Mercury in the Pacific Theater of Operations in World
War II. From his research, Mr. Cremer documents in an illustrated article and in other material that Elmer Brown gave this rifle to his brother, later acquired by his nephew, retained in the family for
68 years, with all its original components, never altered in its as-issued configuration.” Also includes a notarized letter dated November 5, 2013, addressed from Clyde Cremer to the current consignor that
states, “I purchased M-1 Garand NO: 1567600 in 2013 from the nephew of Elmer Theodor Brown, a sailor who picked up the piece while serving on the USS Mercury in the Pacific Theater during World War
II.” Another included typewritten provenance letter from Clyde Cremer states, “Recently I purchased two rifles that were returned via a duffle bag from the SW Pacific at the end of World War Two. The veteran who probably
saved them from being thrown overboard was a Navy veteran who spent the war on the supply ship USS Mercury (AK-42). This cargo ship was launched on 15 June, 1939 and was decommissioned on 28 May, 1959 and scrapped
in 1979.” An accompanying binder also contains scanned photos and research related to Elmer Theodor Brown. The rifle features a winged blade front sight, locking bar pattern adjustable peep rear sight assembly with knurled
windage and elevation knobs, with the elevation knob marked “UP/DOWN” with closed arrow heads and “BATTLE/RANGE”, narrow sight base gas cylinder, round top gas cylinder lock, single slot gas plug, arched profile lower band
(retaining pin is absent), “3-S-A-5-43” barrel with bright chamber ring, uncut “6 SA” operating rod, “-12SA/S-11” bolt, short fork riveted follower rod, “11” follower, “-12-SA” trigger housing with unmarked milled trigger guard, off
center factory stamped illegible markings on the hammer, winged plunger, and “-9SA” safety. Fitted with a walnut stock assembly bearing a boxed “S.A./EMcF” (U.S. Springfield Armory, Earl McFarland) inspection cartouche and
“ordnance wheel” acceptance stamp on the left of the wrist, along with a circled serif “P” firing proof on the front of the grip area. Includes an AFH manufactured M1 bayonet and green synthetic scabbard.
CONDITION: Very fine, retains 75% original parkerized finish with light edge wear and some areas of light browning. The stock is good as sanded and varnished, with a nice darker color on the handguard, with minor light pressure
dents and dings from battle field use, and a lightly visible cartouche. Mechanically excellent. Bayonet and scabbard are fine. An authentic World War II Springfield M1 Garand rifle with documentation as brought back by returning
Navy veteran Elmer Theodor Brown.
